Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats - Blood Lust (One of the best rock albums this year)

Last year i recommended the Ghost as the rock/metal album for people who don't always listen to metal and this year I am recommending

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h279/juicyfrt/cover.jpg

A psychedelic spacey doom album. Posters on forever doomed and last.fm and other sites are going apeshit for it. Originally out on cdr but now out on vinyl on Rise Above (sold out, and i didnt get a copy myself grrr)

But if you see a copy anywhere snag it. (fuck rise above for only doing 350 copies and making it instant collectable bullshit)

Played most of the album in the outloud.fm room and its went down very well even amongst those who dont normally care for rock/metal.

Anyway it's one of the albums of the year.

Holy schmokes this is great stuff! Thanks uncle Ratfucker!

And a friend of mine turned me onto Ghost a couple weeks back. I don't know that I'd always listen to their albums beginning to end, but their live shows look incredible.

Glad you like it!

Oh man, this is so awesome. Anywhere to still find it? Even eBay turns up nothing. Ugh, collector scum shit.

cdr only oop. vinyl sold out on rise above before i could buy it as its 350 copies only

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Friday, 23 September 2011 01:02 (thirteen years ago) link

Some people on another messageboard were talking about this & I just failed to get in on the 1st pressing of the CDr, but was lucky enough to get in on the 2nd. Great stuff. Was happy to hear there was going to be vinyl, & then dismayed to see it was going to be Rise Above - cue stupid prices & size of pressing. Think I heard their 1st record is going to get reissued on vinyl too (although that could've been someone mistaking it for this one), please Satan don't make it RA again.

Wandering Boy Poet, Friday, 23 September 2011 12:39 (thirteen years ago) link

These samples sound great, going to have to try and track down the full album. I'm not sure how much say these guys had in how their stuff gets issued, but shit like what Rise Above does pisses me off to no end. I have no problem with limited edition collectible vinyl for the fetishists and collectors, but how about issuing a standard release to get your music heard? I mean, seems in situations like this that either the bands don't have any say, or they don't care about their music not being widely available, or they are happy to have people pirating their shit.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 23 September 2011 13:44 (thirteen years ago) link

the album is easily found on blogs linking to file upload services. It's really good, and I would have happily paid for a CD/ legit download if I had had the option.

the album is easily found on blogs linking to file upload services.

Yeah, thats how I'm getting this one. I'm just saying, you'd think a band would want the wider exposure and also the $$ from a legit release. I don't get the limited vinyl ONLY thing. Like, makes so much more sense to do both.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 23 September 2011 15:03 (thirteen years ago) link

oh totally. maybe trying to create a kvlt thing, but then if it's all over torrents anyway what's the point?

good luck in your pyramid (Neil S), Friday, 23 September 2011 15:11 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, I downloaded this pretty easily, but I'd much rather have shelled out $30 for a vinyl version, especially given that awesome cover art. Kinda weird when you WANT to give your money to a band / label, and they sorta make it impossible. Guess someone in the organization has a Swiss bank account somewhere.

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Friday, 23 September 2011 16:28 (thirteen years ago) link

Rise Above better do another repress. I dont want to shell out on a cdr no matter how awesome the package is, its still a cdr!

Listening for the third time. Why does this record have to rule so hard? I was hoping I'd draw the conclusion that it was one-note and sorta not worth keeping on the want list in light of the collector scum bullshit, but dammit, "Ritual Knife" came on and I was all "fuck."

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Monday, 26 September 2011 18:28 (thirteen years ago) link

Exactly. The people purchasing these things are the real problem, imho, because it only encourages labels (and bands) to pull this shit again in the future.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 15:02 (thirteen years ago) link

why? they obviously don't need ppl's charity, this is p much literally the clearest case of illegal downloading being 'acceptable' I've ever seen

the green manalishi (with the big boobies) (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 11 October 2011 15:37 (thirteen years ago) link

What do you mean by "charity"? Why is it wrong for me to want to legitimately pay for an album that I really enjoy and play the hell out of? Even if these guys do tour to my area, having a newborn at home means I won't be going to the show anytime soon, so this is a good way to throw some support at them. Yes, I've acquired the album for now, but I'd love to pay for a "real" physical version.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Tuesday, 11 October 2011 15:40 (thirteen years ago) link

it's obviously not 'wrong' but they clearly don't give a shit whether you have a reasonable chance to buy one of their albums or not, so I'd just be inclined to say fuck 'em and burn off a CDR

Armand Schaubroeck Ratfucker, Wednesday, 12 October 2011 22:45 (thirteen years ago) link

All this is beginning to take away from the fact it's a great record...sorry, CDr.

I apologize but I wouldn't be able to name ten of these records, because the majority of them don't really stand out for me as anything noteworthy, but I feel like I've heard this Uncle Acid record 100 times.. It's possible that I need to listen to it more.

jon /via/ chi 2.0, Friday, 20 January 2012 16:00 (thirteen years ago) link

I think this is a question of legitimacy, or the illusion of legitimacy. Uncle Acid sounds like a real metal album, one that might have been made in 76 (or even 84). Those others do not. Whether the whole thing's just a ruse, and Uncle Acid is just bald nerdy guys from Aquarius Records jamming with bald nerdy guys from some long forgotten Cathedral lineup (I'm not entirely convinced it isn't something like this), it's at least convincing. The Uncle Acid album sounds like the kind of album that would have, like, backward messages and shit. Dead Meadow sounds like guys who own Bluetip and Rain Like The Sound Of Trains albums.

If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Friday, 20 January 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago) link

okay, this is pretty damn great. big, thick stoner rock sound, catchy songs, sabbath vocals. reminds me strongly of the witch debut from '06. similar reference points, stoner-patented circular riffing, reedy singing, paranoid fantasy lyrics. and yeah, dead meadow, maybe witchcraft at a substantially more reverentially revivalist remove. something makes me wanna say that it would appeal to fans of the black angels.

since the comparison was made, to my mind, this is nowhere near as catchy, surprising, endearing or memorable as ghost's opus eponymous (my hands-down favorite album of 2011), and when it comes to this particular sound, i think i still prefer the witch record (one of the best rock records of the last decade, so hardly a damning second place). downsides: the solos often bore me, and there's a pall of familiarity that sets in quickly after "i'll cut you down". upsides: SIDE 2! "i am here to kill you", "13 candles" and "ritual knife" are fucking great.

I already regret dropping this from my best of '11 ballot, as I really, really dig this.

On last.fm there's a meagre 55k plays which astounds me. Why isn't UA&tDB this decade's Queens of the Stone Age yet? Or will they be in a year or two but we're just in early? It's got all the potential to be huge I think, playing big summer festivals and all. Or do they wilfully shy away?

Flag post? I hardly knew her! (Le Bateau Ivre), Friday, 3 February 2012 13:45 (thirteen years ago) link

Oh, it's actually 100k+50k = 150k plays in different spelling of the band name. Point still stands though.

^^^^ This. Its been nearly impossible to track down their stuff up to this point, I'm hoping all this buzz will lead to a deal with a decent label that can handle distributing this stuff. I really, really want to support these guys but I keep missing out on the ultra-limited runs of CD-Rs.

it is way early LBI; one of the things that makes me happy about Blood Lust making top 10 is that as far as token rock/metal albums go, it really is a super-hip choice. Outside of some timy doom/stoner blogs and boards, and ILX, their exposure is nil, and any blip they make in the larger culture (Quietus end of year wrap-up, a few stray votes in the P&J) can be traced back to this board...

Today is Cocaine's Birthday! (Drugs A. Money), Friday, 3 February 2012 18:16 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah, that's definitely true Drugs A. Do you agree they have the potential to be this decade's QOTSA? It really feels like they can put a festival audience under their spell like that band. Love ILM for bringing attention to this band. WE WERE FIRST! <3

I don't feel bad about having downloaded their album, but if they ever decide to print a reasonable number of copies of this album with fair distribution that isn't targeted solely at collector scum, then I will more than happily fork over the money.

And, yes, AG, I see that I could have ordered a copy from Rise Above today. But, a) I don't think $34 to pay for international shipping is reasonable for this anyway and, b) my records and player are all in storage right now so it would be kinda useless for me.

I just don't understand this band's reluctance to get their music out there.

it's a common fear i think.

I think people are just shocked because Uncle Acid seem like the kind of band who would go all the way w/the heavy horror-psych exploitation refs, so it seems kinda incongruous that they don't go for the long-haired unwashed drug casualty look.

i gave Blood Lust to my brother (dude in his 40s who loves classic rock and garage/freakbeat stuff) and he was convinced they were famous people from some other band who were playing around. i didn't buy it but it was a funny enough theory that i'm a little sad it's def not true.

I guess we're "post-subculture" now huh? was kind of almost expecting this, as Cambridge isn't exactly known for its wyrdbyrds but I was kind of hoping we'd never get to see them and even live shows would obscure them and just project loads of dumb Brit horror films while they play shrouded in darkness. Who was that band 3 inches of Blood who played power metal but looked like Weezer?

Well, I had asked about a specific couple of shirts: the blood lust album cover, which isn't available in my size currently, and the Lucifer Sam shirt, which has some cats and bats and things. He said he'd reprint them next weekend. I'm going to keep an eye on the site and see whether that pans out.

sweeeet it's on spotify now

nathey, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 09:21 (eleven years ago) link

It doesn't quite sparkle as much as Blood Lust, admittedly. The best songs are the trippier, more Beatles-inspired tracks on the second half whereas the rockinger first side seems more concerned with doing a rather mid-end take on stoner/doom while jettisoning the catchy licks of that earlier album.

pssstttt, Hey you (dog latin), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 11:52 (eleven years ago) link

...the best songs are the trippier, more Beatles-inspired tracks on the second half whereas the rockinger first side seems more concerned with doing a rather mid-end take on stoner/doom...

^ this was my take on the 1st album, tbh. loved it, but felt that the first few songs were a warm-up, that it only really hit full stride halfway through with "i'm here to kill you".

listening to mind control for the first time, and lead track "mt. abraxas" is just about killing me. love the harmonies. would hardly call it mid-end stoner doom, though it definitely skews that way during the long trudgy bit towards the end. no problem with the cleaner sound.

"mind crawler", man huge beatles fingerprints here, heavy garage psych as much as doom. catchy as fuck. this is good.

I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 13:07 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, i'm really digging this. figured it'd be a little more of a move into uncharted territory like that "down to the fire" bonus joint on blood lust, but hey they're good at what they do and there are more weird excursions into psych on here.

ta-nehisi goatse (fadanuf4erybody), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 13:23 (eleven years ago) link

not quite enough catchy lead riffs for me (compare Mind Crawler to 13 Candles for example).

pssstttt, Hey you (dog latin), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 13:27 (eleven years ago) link

tbf, not much compares favorably to "13 candles"

I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 13:41 (eleven years ago) link

Truth.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 13:44 (eleven years ago) link

agree that there's less emphasis on hypnotic heaviness here. and when they do try to lean back and jusdt ride a riff (as at the end of "mt. abraxas"), it doesn't seem quite as magical. vocal melody/harmony, songwriting and psychedelic textures do most of the work. it's a trade-off i can accept, though yeah, i do miss the careening intensity of blood lust's finest moments.

then again, maybe i just need to get the hang of things. i was (stupidly) dissing the first half of blood lust a couple posts back, but that's more a leftover artifact of how the album first hit me than an expression of how i feel now. i love every song, every minute.

I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 14:01 (eleven years ago) link

the drums on Evil Love are killing me.

might be the best song here. at least in this early stage.

nostormo, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 15:08 (eleven years ago) link

Mind Control is more stoner/doom and (musch) less dirty garage rock:
so they lost some of their unique characteristics, and didn't replace them with new, exciting ideas.

in short, it's Blood Lust again, only with a more generic metal production and kinda weaker melodies.

it's nice enough, still.

nostormo, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 15:22 (eleven years ago) link

p.s. Beatles?! where?

nostormo, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 15:25 (eleven years ago) link

vocals, mostly

I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 15:26 (eleven years ago) link

yeah, that's otm i guess.

i thought more of The Stooges on Mind Crawler, with that Wanna Be Your Dog drums.

nostormo, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 15:30 (eleven years ago) link

in short, it's Blood Lust again, only with a more generic metal production and kinda weaker melodies.

the scuzzy garage punk sound wasn't my favorite thing about blood lust. it was cool, definitely helped build the vibe, but i'm not brokenhearted to see it go. "mind crawler" and "evil love" recall that approach and rock hard enough to satisfy me. i prefer the former, but the harmonized guitars on "evil love" are particularly nice. i also dig the dark, psychedelic dreaminess things slide into over the course of side two. "valley of the dolls" and "devil's work" are early favorites.

on first blush, this doesn't quite live up to the debut's promise, but i'll willing to give it (and them) some time and the benefit of the doubt.

I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 15:39 (eleven years ago) link

yeah i meant the piano sorry

nostormo, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 15:48 (eleven years ago) link

"devil's work" is the definite highlight for me. "follow the leader" is the most interesting shift in tone but i kinda don't like it that much?

ta-nehisi goatse (fadanuf4erybody), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 15:59 (eleven years ago) link

i take it more as an ambient drone interlude than a proper song, and on that level it's p cool. certainly prefer it to the knife's moves in that direction on their new album.

I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 16:03 (eleven years ago) link

i agree with nostromo. i'm definitely missing the skuzziness of blood lust.

authentically inauthentic (Pat Finn), Tuesday, 16 April 2013 16:14 (eleven years ago) link

it's true that the cleaner sound and deemphasis of heavy-duty riffage maybe threatens to turn them into black mountain or maybe a darkside cousin to tame impala

billstevejim, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 19:19 (eleven years ago) link

some musicians in this band! seems like this album may be a bit better thought out.

j., Tuesday, 16 April 2013 22:03 (eleven years ago) link

They probably practiced the songs a lot more. There's definitely noticeable mistakes on "Blood Lust," possibly due to the foggy haze of weed smoke that was likely surrounding them during recording. (ie "13 Candles" the bass switching to different parts of the song at the wrong time.) Those are some of my favorite moments on the album.

billstevejim, Tuesday, 16 April 2013 23:19 (eleven years ago) link

Definitely darker and doomier than the 2nd album. Takes longer to sink in. Prefer it to the new Ghost album.

picked up 'mind control' today.

4 listens in .. and its beginning to click ..

dont hear too much of a difference with 'blood lust' other than the songs are not quite as immediate.

still, i love their lo-fi sludge heavy sound and i know a few more listens and i will succumb.

xpost :
re ghost - oooh .. i love the latest ghost album.
ok, it sags a little in the middle, but damn, the final few songs just take the whole thing to another level of enjoyment.

and yesterday i picked up sunn 0))) m&d for a £1 !!
so, was actually going to ask the ilm crew (hello kerr - was going to drop on your fb wall) where next given i love earth mk2, sunn 0))), uncle acid, and ghost.
i need guidance.
the key factor is lot of guitars, lack of screamy/gutteral coffin disturbing vocals.
suspect there is a whole world of metal based noise i would enjoy if only i had the knowledge.
for example : mastodon.
keep looking at their releases ..

I love Mind Control to bits. It's very brooding, for sure. And I came around to Blood Lust in a big way, it took about a year since its original release for it to really click with me.

this is key, though i think it keeps ramping up all the way through. slow to start, solid in the middle, brilliant back half. "ghuleh" -- "monstrance clock" is where the album's at.

Cannot believe there was a band with "Uncle Acid" in the name before this one (with Rusty Day of Cactus and The Amboy Dukes, no less):

In 1982, Day was working on an album with Uncle Acid & The Permanent Damage Band, as well as dealing cocaine. Day owed money to Ron Sanders, one of the guitar players in his band, after a minor cocaine deal. Monte "Mondo" Thomas, Day's lead guitarist and close friend, explained Sanders as: "...a madman, he was a millionaire and a real bad cocaine fiend." Rusty, at this time, lived in an old piece of property on 173 Parsons Road, Longwood, Florida, along with his 11-year-old son Russell Edward Davisdon Jr (a.k.a. "Jocko"), and his Rhodesian Ridgeback (a breed of dog), named Sir Pluto The Nightstalker of Stalkmore (or "Pluto" for short). On that fateful day of June 3, 1982, Mondo Thomas had agreed to drive a friend out of town, and was therefore not present when someone broke into the house, forced Rusty & Jocko on their knees, & opened fire with a gun, killing them both, as well as their poor dog Pluto. Garth McRae, a guest (who was also Rusty's neighbor, manager, and part-time drug dealer), hid in a closet and sat down in a crouched position, but he was shot too (through the hand & into the face). A lot of people believe that Ron Sanders was the man responsible for this massacre. But, according to K. J. Knight, it was probably not Ron Sanders, but that he still could have been behind the shooting either way. Steve Gaines's widow, Theresa Gaines, claims that she was coming over to visit Rusty and say hello, but instead discovered the bodies of the murder. Ron Sanders shot himself six weeks later, after police had surrounded his house due to entirely different charges than the triple murder weeks before.

Rusty's body was shipped to Garden City, Michigan, where he was cremated and his ashes were interred in a local cemetery.

There was a track that really reminded me of them on that last Heavy Nuggets volume that came on the front of last month's Led Zep cover Mojo. Had a similar combination of glam stomp and heavyness.
But I can't think which it was offhand, helpful ain't I?

Would say that it was worth getting a copy of that cd if you like Uncle Acid anyway. Just in acase that fact had passed you by. & the new edition is out so you're probably going to find it harder to find last month's with taht cd on from now on.

Stevolende, Friday, 27 June 2014 17:50 (ten years ago) link

I do have that disc, first time I've picked up Mojo in ages simply because the tracklist looked so good. I don't remember a specific Uncle Acid sounding track, but I've only played it once. I do remember really digging most of it though.

Bus Sex Teen Busted After Queef Beef (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 27 June 2014 17:57 (ten years ago) link

That's the very one.

Bus Sex Teen Busted After Queef Beef (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 27 June 2014 18:00 (ten years ago) link

The track I was thinking of was the Rog & Pip Why Can't You Do What I want. There's something in the descending way the title gets sung and the glam stomping that really reminds me of Uncle Acid.
Don't think I've heard of the group before, which is not something I usually find.

Anyway, great compi as I said.

Stevolende, Sunday, 29 June 2014 10:54 (ten years ago) link

I think the Rog & Pip stuff was just issued on Rise Above, might've been 45 only or unreleased or something.

http://www.riseaboverecords.com/artists/relicsartists/rog-pip/
yeah here's the rundown on the lp reissue or compilation or whatever that is from the Rise Above site. I guess the Mojo that cd came with had some bumpf on the bands on it but I have the zine & cd in 2 different places so hadn't looked at what it says in the mag which is still siting in my shoulder bag. Looking at it, there isn't much. Says unearthed an lp's worth of material which I'd assume meant compilation rather than reissue.
& that Rog & Pip had been in the Sorrows who I think I had one heavyish freakbeat track by on a vinyl compilation years ago.

The Deadbeats are based in New Paltz, NY, and have been one of the hardest working bands in the NorthEast
since their inception in 1993. Their Grateful Dead/Phish inspired shows are a celebration of improvisational,
jamming rock & roll and they can be found on the road, performing consistently 5-6 nights a week up and down
the East Coast. As a result, they have amassed a large - and loyal following of fans who appreciate the open
ended, participatory nature of their performances. Working without a net, their set lists, arrangements, and
jams are all left open to the inspiration of the particular moment, drawing in the crowd as active participants in
the creative process rather than just spectators. It is a unique experience and it has been this commitment to
these musical and philosophical ideals that has set The Deadbeats apart. And now with the release of their
first cd of original material, The Deadbeats continue to develope their own style and identity. Their songs have
been reviewed as some of the strongest to emerge from the ãjam bandä community and have received radio
airplay all over the country, as well as on the web. Along with a virtually inexhaustible repertoire of cover
tunes, The Deadbeats are actually able to please most of the people most of the time. Their mailing list now
numbers close to 10,000 fans and a very close relationship is maintained with mailings, a hotline #, and web
page, all of which can be accessed as follows: -

Yay, Vol 1 finally reissued! Still lo-fi, but the remaster sounds just fine to my ears, no worse than Blood Lust!

So, what were the equivalent picks of subsequent years in the spirit of this thread? Perhaps:

2012
Goat - World Music: A mix of Afrobeat, psych and Kosmische/space rock via Sweden that sounded fresh at the time and had people transfixed with their masked mysteriousness.
Troubled Horse - Step Inside: Not a popular pick, but nearly everyone I turned on to this loved it. Another Swedish band with members crossing over from Witchcraft/Graveyard, but with a little country twang in there too.

2013
Savages - Silence Yourself: Does this UK post-punk band count? I dunno, but it jumps out as the new thing that people dug. I haven't listened to it in a while but the songs held up live.
Hidden Masters – Of This & Other Worlds: I am obsessed with this band beyond reason. Not everyone seems to get it, but man, if XTC's Dukes of Stratosphear project were as nimble as Cream plus some on-the-dime time changes worthy of King Crimson? Worship worthy, but unfortunately they broke up soon after.

2014
Pallbearer – Foundations Of Burden: I can't really think of one that was as widely liked as the previous years, but people not normally into doom seemed to get into Pallbearer.
Truckfighters – Universe: Swedish road warriors are known to cross the North American continent as much as twice a year when many European bands have never set foot here. It's starting to pay off as their shows gradually get more and more fans coming via word of mouth, and their solid recordings documenting their fuzzy evolution.

2015
Elder – Lore: Seemed to win over a lot of new fans to the doom side. Technically their mix of heavy stoner psych and prog has very little elements of doom left, but people seem to like that term. And sludge, neither of which fit Elder, but babysteps.
Magic Circle – Journey Blind: I thought this would have been huge but it was kind of ignored. Glorious, beautiful rock 'n' doom. A perfect album. I was at Three Floyds brewery last year and was excited to hear them play the entire first album in the restaurant. I don't think anyone other than the staff knew what it was, but I saw some head noddin'.

2016
Khemmis – Hunted: Got the attention I thought labelmates Magic Circle should have gotten. A great progression from their debut just a year before, they deserve the attention.
Syd Arthur – Apricity: While their second album, Sound Mirror (2014) drew some attention, I thought this album, which was even more accessible, a gorgeously produced mix of Canterbury prog and psych with some beautiful tunes, would be much bigger.

Fastnbulbous, Wednesday, 18 October 2017 05:50 (seven years ago) link

2011
Graveyard - Hisingen Blues: I didn't see a ton of hype online, but their shows were always at capacity, so word of mouth was working.

2010
Tame Impala - Innerspeaker. Even more impressive than Ghost's and Uncle Acid's cult ascension was Tame Impala. I don't think there was any big business push, it was pretty organic -- I saw them go from a 400 capacity club that year to headlining huge festivals the next.

Best of '10s
https://open.spotify.com/user/1212496385/playlist/2dW3Y0UWLWc6PXuzPtx5Hc

Other options for bubbling under cult fave rock/metal release from 2013: SubRosa, Avatarium, Fuzz, Windhand, Anciients, Blood Ceremony, Purson, Chris Forsyth, Jex Thoth, Goatess. I also very much liked Spirits of the Dead and Wolf People, but their type of nocturnal psych prog doesn't seem to have wide appeal.

Thanks! Been curious to hear how it came across live, I've got tickets for next week.

Do they soundtrack the trailers too?

No, they're just in their drive-in quality glory. There's 2 inserted adverts for the show you're about to see, using a variety of press quotes including the dreadful one from Classic Rock.

Featured a trailer for Case of the Scorpion's Tail that I hadn't seen before, which was completely homaged by one of the film sequences during the show.

Cool, thanks, was just curious about the overall structure of the show. Looking forward to it!

Due to three overlapping and out of my control events last night, I had to miss this and I am absolutely furious.

I saw the Montréal show a few days ago, and it blew me away. Shattered expectations, a clinic in multimedia conceptual progressive rock. The expanded band was outstanding, brought a ton of power and nuance to the album's tracks. I hadn't seen Uncle Acid in 12 years, and wow have they become a terrific live band. Great merch, too, I love how translated librettos are available.

DO NOT miss this tour!

Salt in the wound dude, salt in the wound! I'm glad it was good though!

I missed it in Chicago too - there's a well-recorded January 27th performance from Muziekgebouw, Kleine Zaal, Eindhoven, Netherlands on d1mead0zen now - probably the same set list and sounds great.
