fifteen years pass...

There’s a scrub jay in the nearby park that has started clipping my head when I walk my spaniel there. Like, it will follow us around hopping from tree to tree but swiping my head on the way. It’s probably just being a menace but I think it’s kinda cute.

A robin has started relentlessly kamikaze-diving our basement (and car) window. Apparently they see their reflection and get mad at that other male bird.

maybe it has a nest with babies nearby!!! maybe it covets some spaniel fur to line its nest? have you tried balancing a platform feeder on your head during your walks, one strewn with dog fur and peanuts in the shell

birds are such weird wondrous little guys!!

xpost, that was meant for brimstead but should apply to Jordan as well, why not

senseless Icelandic salsa slander (cat), Thursday, 2 May 2024 19:49 (one month ago) link

Oh there's definitely a nest in my case. Stupid, stupid bird.

Jordan s/t (Jordan), Thursday, 2 May 2024 19:54 (one month ago) link

yeah that makes sense, cat, it’s probably trying to shoo us away

One year my parents had a male robin attacking their picture window so vehemently he was leaving blood streaks on the glass

Hideous Lump, Thursday, 2 May 2024 21:24 (one month ago) link

metal robin! \m/

ay brimstead i don't mean to discount the possibility that this is the beginning of your disney princess arc. have you noticed an uptick in magical phenomena? break into any good song-and-dance numbers lately? how alive are your parents right now?

senseless Icelandic salsa slander (cat), Friday, 3 May 2024 02:15 (four weeks ago) link

(sorry, that last might be kind of horribly flippant, i hope all of your parents are as well as you'd like them to be, and if they aren't i'm so so so so sorry)

senseless Icelandic salsa slander (cat), Friday, 3 May 2024 02:16 (four weeks ago) link

no worries, my family is doing relatively well at the moment. say, are you that black cat with the puffy tail that just stands in the playground at night? we think you’re really cool!

Yeah, the entire top half of the window is opaque with bird grease (not blood, I don't think).
