Your Experiences With Huron

After Lake Ontario, it's the least talked-about Great Lake. Gordon Lightfoot's never written a song about it as far as I know.

The Hurons were also supposedly a pretty cool Indian tribe. Though they got their asses kicked by the Iroquois, if I remember my history correctly.

No one ever talks about Lake Ontario? Dude, you've so never lived in either upstate NY or Southern Ontario.

Why should Erie get all the glory just coz it had that danged canal named after it?

I love Lake Huron. I never realised until I went there that two of the "bananas" in the "bunch" (as the lakes appear on a map) are actually both part of lake Huron coz of Manitoulin Island in the middle. Manitoulin Island is so cool, the world's biggest island within a lake, which has lakes on it....with islands in them! Hey, that's just so....fractal!

Sault Ste Marie is great too, well, not the town iitself, which is a rather unsightly port, but those huge locks between Lakes Huron & Superior - amazing.

Do Tobermory and Flowerpot Island count as Huron or are they Georgian Bay? They were lovely anyway.

Tobermory is so cute.

Never a Gordon Lighfoot song about it? Does it have to be, like, featured in the title?

If the definition is more relaxed, then verse 6 of "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" mentions it... but then verse 6 mentions all the Great Lakes in various degrees of anthropomorphic personification.
