what caused your last murderous impulse?

mine don't happen that often, but today i found that a family member deleted ALL of MY MUSIC on the computer to free up space (and all the rest of the family's, leaving only that person's own). ALL that i have collected over THREE YEARS. ALL OF IT! as soon as the car pulls into the driveway there will be PAIN.

Maria (Maria), Sunday, 3 November 2002 20:41 (twenty-two years ago) link

Have you deleted all there's yet, too?

Graham (graham), Sunday, 3 November 2002 20:43 (twenty-two years ago) link

(Burn it onto CD, show them you had the decency to keep a copy. Then SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER)

Graham (graham), Sunday, 3 November 2002 20:43 (twenty-two years ago) link

Last night, while waiting for a replacement night bus in the middle of nowhere ... A man finished his bottle of soft drink, walked purposefully to the edge of the road and dropped the empty bottle into the gutter. This despite the fact that there was a rubbish bin no more then TEN FEET away from him. If I hadn't been drunk and cold and miserable, I probably would have flown into a murderous rage, picked the bottle out of the gutter and beaten him to death with it, before depositing both bottle and corpse in the bin.

Littering offends me on such a more fundamental and basic level than just about any other misdemeanor. For such deliberate and wanton littering, I honestly think the death penalty should be reinstated. Or at the very least, chop off offenders' hands.

kate, Sunday, 3 November 2002 20:47 (twenty-two years ago) link

nooo, graham, then i'd be "just as bad" and I'D get in trouble with a parent and there would just be no point.

kate, that is infuriating!

Maria (Maria), Sunday, 3 November 2002 20:59 (twenty-two years ago) link

Maria that's horrible!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 3 November 2002 21:02 (twenty-two years ago) link

Sympathies to Maria, but all my major rages that I can remember led to me feeling more like hurting myself rather than anyone else. I can't remember ever feeling murderous, even towards someone dropping some litter.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 3 November 2002 21:18 (twenty-two years ago) link

ok, i'm calm now. but i still want to hear murderous rage stories

Maria (Maria), Sunday, 3 November 2002 21:46 (twenty-two years ago) link

A friend of mine turning up 55 minutes late while I had been standing in the cold and wet waiting for him WITHOUT HAVING THE DECENCY TO FUCKING PHONE AND TELL ME.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 3 November 2002 22:50 (twenty-two years ago) link

haha Matt for some of my friends 55 minutes late counts as shockingly early! Anything less than two hours late for some is considered perfectly acceptable.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 3 November 2002 23:17 (twenty-two years ago) link

Yes, but I am a fascist and therefore operate a three-strikes-and-you're-out approach to my friends. The aforementioned mate is on his last chance. If you can't fulfil my stringent behavioural requirements you can fuck off, quite frankly.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Sunday, 3 November 2002 23:29 (twenty-two years ago) link

oh nothing much. but the results were spectacular!

di smith (lucylurex), Monday, 4 November 2002 00:08 (twenty-two years ago) link

I want to know what murderous implements Maria used. Or alternately, whether or not she erased the other person's music files, or caused some other form of nastiness.

I spend most of my time ducking others' murderous impulses so never have time to develop any of my own.

ch. (synkro), Monday, 4 November 2002 00:25 (twenty-two years ago) link

that is horrible. for what it's worth i could mail you malice mizer's entire back-catalogue on CD but i understand your parents would think itd be a letter-bomb from one of them internet psychos.

that really sucks, mark p, i hope you get it back/were insured.

a co-worker blithely letting on that she has "no use for any male authors". the blanket dismissal profered as some kind of political/social awareness made me cringe. like the imbecile in one of my theory classes who turned up his nose at my jean frame novel, 'cause it was, you know, "by a girl"...

mike (ro)bott, Monday, 4 November 2002 00:53 (twenty-two years ago) link

mark p that is horrible beyond words. i am so sorry.

(monotone voice)
my last murderous rage was caused by my existence

okay it was a suicidal rage

okay it was a temper tantrum

dammit where's my pacifier

b, Monday, 4 November 2002 02:17 (twenty-two years ago) link

I feel really bad cos you lot have actually had annoying things happen to you. I mean, my last murderous rage was earlier today and it involved the fact that there were too many little kids running around yelling in the lobby of a movie theatre. I have murderous impulses about 40 times a day for no reason whatsoever.

Every time I go to a mall I tell myself it's going to be the last time, because I get infuriated at the shrieking rugrats tearing up the place. But do I remember? No.

I heard that a guy who lives in the same block of flats as a friend was beating his dog last night. She screamed at him to stop and called him lots of names. He said the dog deserved it for shitting on the carpet.

Great, so not only does he abuse his dog, he also neglects it by not taking it out to shit. Poor fucking dog will probably be too scared to shit next time he takes it for a walk and will probably end up shitting on the carpet again in desperation.

He (the man) deserves to die. Poor dog.

On Saturday morning, I caughty a paparazzi b*stard taking photographs from the end of our street with a wide angled camera type thingy. Now I'm resigned to them taking pictures of my bloke (he did do a bad thing, so he should face the consequences) but he was taking pictures of us settling his 7 & 8 year old girls into the car and putting on their seatbelts. They have done nothing wrong - neither have I for that matter. It took me all my time not to thump him.

1) Saturday evening: a certain writer from a national newspaper (who I shall not name though I REALLY WANT TO) did not turn up to the talk/reading he was supposed to be giving that evening. He didn't phone us (the organisers) with any semblance of an excuse, we couldn't get hold of him, and we still haven't heard from him as far as I know. Unless he has suffered a personal tragedy (in which case I will feel terrible), I will NOT be reading his pieces any more. (Actually I probably will, but it was fucking annoying and embarrassing at the time.)

2) Later on Saturday evening: a car ran a red light at a pedestrian crossing right in front of me. In the weary, angry state I was already in this provoked hand gestures I would not normally use.

3) This morning: another car ran another red light and nearly knocked me down. The driver cackled with laughter as he sped off up the road. More futile hand gestures from me.

I am not normally an angry person.
