my own real life Weird Barbie:

tips of fingers missing from both hands because I “cut her nails”

one loose leg that kinda hung limp because my sister & fought over her and somehow “wishboned” the rubber band attaching her leg to her hip

crazy hair from many failed haircuts including an entire bald patch in the back

“earrings” that were actually just bent sewing pins stabbed into her ears but they kind of stuck out like frankenstein bolts

her clothes were the nasty handknitted barbie clothes that we hated that our aunt bought at a craft fair (long navy blue woollen skirt & a red & white striped cardigan with huge fake-pearl buttons

also her skin color was a weird zombie grey color after i took her “swimming” in the bathroom sink in water that i colored w my grandma’s permanent blue hair dye
(also was grounded for a week for staining the sink).

- make figure out of modeling clay, affix to wooden building block (I may have even used modeling clay chains?), place block/figure in front of bedroom space heater until soft, smash with other building block, repeat

We shot BBs at my captain power figures and hit star wars dudes with 9-irons

Eventually there comes a time in every young pyro’s life where they discover fireworks and then lookout, toy supply

Found a (nice, hand-built) dollhouse put out for trash day, got it home and went ham with a hammer and chisel.

My dad asked me to stop just before complete demolition and then he painted the walls with graffiti and blood for Necromunda terrain.

I didn't have a weird barbie. My worst mutilations were that I cut one's 'fingernails' on one hand, which haunts me to this day bc it was a barbie my mom had from the 60s who still had her hair in a beautiful big beehive wrap and I feel bad about ruining her, and I then used the same nail clippers to trim off the tip of my ken's nose. That might have been around the same time I gave a troll doll a tattoo with black pen. That's really the sum of my childhood toy destruction.

I think the most abusive I was to a toy was a cabbage patch doll a neighbour gave me when I was maybe three, four. I named the doll Verna, after the neighbour, but was (so I'm told, I was too little to really remember) verbally/psychologically abusive to it, like I'd scold it and make it sit in the corner and call it names and generally be a jerk to it.

I had absolutely no ill-will towards Verna the neighbour and seem to recall liking her very much.

I smashed so many Hot Wheels cars. With bricks. With rocks. Cinderblocks. Probably one or two with a hammer.

I must've gone through a dozen General Lee's.

Also used to freeze Star Wars and GI Joe figures inside plastic cups of water. Then I'd take the ice ball out and put in the middle of the other figures and make them look at it.

Got a couple of the original Star Wars plastic action figures for Christmas, C3P0 and Luke Skywalker. I was so excited you could move their limbs, arms, legs, head... nope! Luke's head snapped right off, so from then on any Star Wars play involved Luke getting decapitated.

maybe it's because toy story was one of the first films I ever saw but I would never torture my friends like this. I had a sidlike older neighbour who liked to show me his chopped up / melted / reassembled barbies and turtles and whatnot and the memory still creeps me out

In my early teens, GI Joe and Star Wars figures and some minor vehicles got rubbing alcohol and lit on fire or firecrackers strapped to them in various combinations.
