Is this the most shamefully cynical signing in Premiership history?

I can't remember most of the tags, but a mate linked me to a site with loads of 'em, it's great!

wasnt todo the masked defender from the world cup?? if so he is a very good player - if not then DAMN that is cynical. But at the end of the day this has been happening sincce perugia put a £15 mill price tag on Nakata due to the t-shirts he sold, its why Inamoto went to Arsenal and played twice, its why Fulham bought him, and it is why the Koreans will flock to clubs all over the world

james (james), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

Inamoto was a good signing though in fairness.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

what's happened to him? is he injured?

chris (chris), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

Why, did they sell him for a profit?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeah def, i think he is a good player but not a regular, as a result i think he is a cash cow - which is a shame as cynics like me no longer see the goodness in football anymore (if it doesn;'t show i am a Leeds fan so i have been stripped of any football joy)

james (james), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:22 (twenty-one years ago) link

Nick - Who??

james (james), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:23 (twenty-one years ago) link

We very much looking forward to visiting home of Todo-san to see very good football in nice Haringey!

Japanese Football Fan (daveb), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

Arsenal sell Inamoto. Or is he just on loan to Fulham? Or was he just on loan to Arsenal? Should I shush?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:24 (twenty-one years ago) link

Hang on though how many goals has Inamoto scored? I'd have thought about 8 or 9?

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:25 (twenty-one years ago) link

ronan - only in the intertoto i believe, maybe some at the start of the season.

nick - he is on a 1yr loan to fulham - but because fulham have a good midfield (well they may as well have something) he cant get in - massive shame because when i visited loftus rd it was the Japanese that made the atmosphere much better and sadly they dont get to see what they really would love to see, and because his goals in the intertoto certainly gave the club a bit more money.

james (james), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

Nah, Miyamoto was the guy with the mask - Toda was the one with the red hair, but he was also pretty good if I remember correctly. Probably better than Steffen Freund at any rate (and I know this is heresy from a Spurs fan) if only because he looked capable of doing something other than run and tackle and tackle and run.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:32 (twenty-one years ago) link

B-b-b-but Stefan Freund is a football genius!

Dave B (daveb), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:34 (twenty-one years ago) link

miyamoto was great - who does he play for - Leeds should buy him to make some cash

james (james), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 14:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

Miyamoto? where do i know that name?

oh yeh, he created Super Mario!

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 18:11 (twenty-one years ago) link

four months pass...
It's amazing what an impact he made this season, isn't it?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:07 (twenty-one years ago) link

He'll come good next season, leading the charge to ninth place and an FA Cup quarter final.

I thought this revival was going to be for City/Seaman deal.
