are there any sci-fi movies where the wierdo experiments have a control group?

i know a lot of them are one-man doc brown/brundlefly "i'll test the serum on myself!" style experiments but itd be nice to just once see the evil corporation/government/whatever giving placebos to some of the unwitting subjects. what's the point of an experiment where everyone receives the same treatment?

X-Files episode where the Vegan commune was the control group and the meat eating locals got the beef with alien DNA.

The Cronenberg "The Fly" did have a control group, though, insofar as Jeff Goldblum has Geena Davis try the two steaks, one of which has been teleported, to see if she can taste a difference.

Yeah, The THing definitely counts, where they're checking the blood.

Does Brainstorm count? All the researchers - mostly Walken - test the 'reading other people's memories/experiencing other people's experiences'-machine, but they also bring in a monkey, let it be used by CEO's of the company and monitor them. Others 'use' it for sexual pleasure, oh, and Walken's son uses it (although by accident).
