Steph, Iron Flag is one of the tightest albums of the year. Now i had it for a while there are some tracks that I keep skipping, but the rest is real hot. Big J, I didn't say shit bout QB, I said the QBs finest album is wack... whos backing down?

Mr Kazper (Casper) the Friendly Ghost, I dont need to be no private eye to find shit on you. The instructions are posted up this thread! Maybe i will be a snoop and find some more shit, but maybe not. But please tell me you didn't write this:

"Hey guys, as you can see on my profile I`m 20, 5`7, 165lbs. I`m not in college because of my line of work. I`m in a five man singing group called "FOOTSTEPS". I`m a singer, song writer, musician. This is what I do. This is what I love. So I can actually say that I`am living one of my biggest dreams. and if you guys are still wondering (we are all getting college tutorers)" If you didnt write it, then I must of got another Kazper, ah well...

And if thats a picture of you... hmmm...

Personally, I think in a Marciano vs Ali fight (both at their peak), Marciano would get a knock-out in round 12 or later. By the way, did any of y'all see when Henry Cooper had Ali on his ass so bad his corners needed to tear Ali's glove to extend the break between rounds. Ali got saved by the bell, but theres no way he would of made the count. He won the fight cos Cooper had a real bad cut over his left eye.

Yeah, I got to say Back (DAMN!) did alright on the rhymes he put up, but like I said Best (got it right that time), do you want it?

"try the wu hate, duck, you can suck my/watch the block get clear when I buck my/boomerang darts, you cant duck my/no tellin' which clan man you got struck by" - RZA

Shame that i gotta say this to all you niggaz but Jay-Z FELL OFF in 98 and has rarely been hot since, truth is he went pop and jumped on the MTV dick, he's got some hot verses on Blueprint but there's a lot of flash bullshit in between, Nas is REAL again on Stillmatic. Resurection. Believe, he fell off and went pop and did shit like that ego bullshit "Hate me now" video but he's hot again now. Hova needs to get back to the streets, he's got too much now and that's showing.

Damn, I go for an overnight work trip and this thread gets flooded. I got some scores to settle. First off 3:16, if that was you responding to me it was uncalled for. I was responding to the fake posing as you. That had nothing to do with you. SecondSagely, the fake poster, this is the net like Hillis said, show your true identity. My opinion, if you want to know the truth, is that some jealous cat from another thread is pissed because their thread can't jump off. I found this thread not from Greenspun but from Yahoo, a search on the Nas/Jay-Z beef.

Oh yeah, speaking of hillis, I don't give a fuc if DA BEARS are garbage, they was my team when they had garbage records. So now they my playoff with a bye garbage (BEARS since '84). I could never watch them play cause I'm in Carolina and had to see the wack ass PANTHERS every week.

The greatest boxer is Roy Jones and and Bald Bull.

As far as the whole two-week poster status, I been here before halloween. I though about posting on other sites but this thread is the sheez-hot. This is the best thread on Nas/Jay-z. I went on jackin4beats.com and you talk about immature. Those cats can't be over 15.

Now, back to the topic (this seems to be my trademark). Nas is the shit right now, Any questions????

Don't forget........

What a boring discussion. It is time for some education here. I hereby present a runthrough of the 1970s career of the greatest singer/songwriter of all time, Elton John.

1970 March "Border Song", featuring the Barbara Moore Choir, is released but, despite strong UK airplay, fails to chart. April The Elton John Band makes its live debut at the Roundhouse in Camden Town, supporting T.Rex. May (9) John again plays piano on an Abbey Road Studio session for the Hollies, on "I Can't Tell The Bottom From The Top" (and is guest organist on their "Perfect Lady Housewife", for inclusion on CONFESSIONS OF THE MIND). Aug (22) Having signed to MCA Records' Uni subsidiary in the US at the invitation of label boss Russ Regan, "Border Song", from ELTON JOHN, marks his US singles chart debut, at #92. (25) John makes his live Stateside debut, accompanied by regular sidemen, bassist Dee Murray (b. David Murray Oates, Apr. 3, 1946, Southgate, London) and Nigel OLsson (b. Feb 10, 1949, Wallasey, Lancs.) on drums, performing at the 20th-anniversary celebrations for Doug Weston's Troubadour in Los Angeles, CA, opening for singer/songwriter David Ackles. With Leon Russell and Quincy Jones in the audience, John will later claim that the "awesome" reviews of this performance changed his life. Oct (3) ELTON JOHN enters the US chart. It is produced by Gus Dudgeon, and features the first Elton John Band, with John on vocals and keyboards, Dee, Olsson, and Quaye on guitar. (31) John begins his freshman US tour at the Boston Tea Party, Boston, MA. Nov (12-15) He plays the Fillmore West, supporting the Kinks. (17) A concert in New York, NY forms a live radio broadcast for station WPLJ (and is recorded for album release in 1971). (20-21) John plays at the Fillmore East, New York, with Leon Russell headlining.

1971 Jan (23) Ballad "Your Song" hits US #8. (30) TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION, featuring Dusty Springfield as a backing vocalist, hits UK #6. Dick James enlists Motown label manager John Reid as John's personal manager. He will remain with the singer for 27 years. Feb (6) ELTON JOHN hits US #4. (13) "Your Song" hits UK #7, as TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION hits US #5. (17) ELTON JOHN is certified gold by the RIAA. Mar (3) John plays the Royal Festival Hall, London, during his current UK tour. (22) The RIAA certifies gold sales of TUMBLEWEED CONNECTION. Apr (3) ELTON JOHN reaches UK #11. (24) John's title song from the film "Friends" makes US #34, as he embarks on a major UK tour, set to end in June. May (1) 17-11-70, from the November concert in New York, reaches UK #20, as soundtrack album, FRIENDS, reaches US #36, having been certified gold by the RIAA on April 6th. July (10) 11-17-70 (the month and day inverted for the US version), reaches US #11. Nov John embarks on a major UK tour.

More to follow.

"Oh my God, it's him." "Who, Who is it?" The Best mothafuckas. Aiyo Kazper, plain and simple if it's you doing the cloning....STOP IT!! Damn Hillis, I guess we just don't agree on music dun. How can you say the Wu is garbage. Are you serious? They have two classic albums under their belts in "36 Chambers" and "Iron Flag". Everybody on the Wu is lyrically tight except for U-God, ODB, and Cappadona (well he's not a member anymore). And Method Man is not the nicest in the camp, maybe most commercial/popular, but no where near being the nicest. That title has to go to either Raekwon or Gza. Every track those two individuals have ever spit on are flames. You also think Ghostface is garbage? Once again, are you serious? Ghostface has a classic album in "Ironman" and two solid lp's in "Supreme Clientele" and "Bulletproof Wallets". I'm not going to lie, Ghostface does have his share of subpar joints, but he also has some fire tracks with blazing lyrics. Also, in my opinion Raekwon has one of the best albums in the 90's in "Only Built For Cuban Linx". You niggaz probably have never heard of this, but trust me that joint is FLAMES!! All in all though the Wu are nice, niggaz aren't feelin' them cause they don't comprehend their lyrics, or they aren't feelin' Rza's production. If your not lyrically "caught up" in hip hop, you won't consider any of the Wu albums. Oh yeah Steph, Redman is not a member of Wu Tang LMAO, it's alright though you would think that since him and Meth are with eachother so damn much. And speakin' of Redman, I feel dun is the reason why Meth has lyrically fallen off. He has lowered himself to Redman's level of spittin'. Listen to Meth's old shit, and listen to his new shit....BIG DROP OFF IN LYRICISM!! Oh and 3:16, do I want what......FUCKIN' FAGGOT!! Nigga you figure it out. Damn you British mothafuckas are slow. (Was that too harsh?). And for the record, that "back" joke is offically old (it deserves the joke veto), you have used that joint way too much. It's a new year time for some new jokes, eh? Aiyo Q, did you peep those disses yet. In my opinion everybody's diss was garbage except for Oskeeno's to Nas, dun said "fuck movin' units, this is deeper than music/ u GOT URSELF A GUN, but will not use it". Oh and speakin' of those Cock A Fella disses can anyone tell me why the fuck is Sigel trying to rhyme like BIG, and Freegay like Pac LMAO. "Oh my God he's leaving." "Who, Who's leaving?" The Best mothafuckas. ~1~

Sincer her debut in 1988, Sarah McLachlan's atmospheric folk-pop has gained a devoted following of fans not only in Canada, where she has established star status, but also in the U.S. and U.K. Each album has shown her growing both as a musician and songwriter, continually redefining herself and emerging as a major voice in the growing Adult Alternative Pop format. Sarah McLachlan was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on January 28, 1968 where she took vocal training in addition to classical piano and guitar lessons as a child. After a year of art training at the Nova Scotia School of Design, while fronting a new wave band, October Game, Nettwerk Records approached her for a solo deal. She initially turned it down in favor of continued studies, but took them up on the offer in late 1987 and relocated to Vancouver. On the strength of her debut, 1988's Touch, she was signed to Arista for international distribution. The album eventually reached gold status in Canada and was reissued worldwide in 1989. In 1991, she followed up with Solace, an impressive collection that showed a great leap in songcraft and built a strong cult following in the U.S. In September 1992, following a 14-month promotional tour, McLachlan traveled to Cambodia and Thailand for work on a Canadian-sponsored documentary on poverty and child prostitution, World Vision. Inspired by her experiences, she retreated to a secluded house outside of Montreal to write material for her next album. After six months in a Montreal studio with collaborator/producer Pierre Marchand, Fumbling Toward Ecstasy, her strongest and most personal effort to date, was released in late 1993. The album peaked in the U.S. charts at number 50 and by the end of 1994, it reached platinum status after 62 weeks on the chart. "Possession," the single from the album, broke the Top 100 and received considerable airplay, especially on modern rock radio, where it reached number 14. "Good Enough" also found a home in that format, reaching number 16. The Freedom Sessions, consisting mainly of alternate versions of tracks from Fumbling, was released in 1995, and Rarities, B-Sides and Other Stuff, a collection of non-LP tracks and remixes, was issued in Canada in 1996. In 1997, McLachlan began work on her fourth album, the enormously successful Surfacing, which debuted at number two on the pop albums chart. In addition to her own albums, she has contributed tracks to several cause-related releases, provided the theme for the film Brothers McMullen ("I Will Remember You"), and organized the Lilith tour, a package tour focusing on emerging women singer/songwriters. 1999 saw the release of the live album Mirrorball.

o.k. that's it. It's official, if you notice the Hip Hop Haters are showing their face. I don't even want to respond to Elton John and sarah lee posts. The topic is Jay-Z / Nas hip-hop throw down? & other throw-downs? Pt. 2: The Saga Continues.

If you can't talk about hip-hop battles, get the fuck off this post. Their topics get no play so they got to come and Invade ours. I don't care what music you listen to, this is a Hip-Hop thread. You will respect hip-hop as it is an art. To those of you who don't care for hip hop, but want to be a nusiance and not get the fuck off this thread, (oh yeah, fuck grammar, english is a bastard language anyway) notice that hip-hop has many aspects. We have our own debates as to the importance of beats and production vs lyrics. We don't need any other discussion of other types of music, especially shit that was goin on before we were born. Hip Hop stands on it's own.

Hip hop has it's own talent structure. The art of rapping is the ability to talk to a rhythm. That's what RAP stands for "rhythm and poetry". The rhythm is assisted by the beat. Rap was Rap before it was Rap Music. Rap is so versatile that it has the ability to draw from any kind of music. Even that Elton john character. People try to grade Rap on the music it uses but beats are merely a support mechanism. So, therefore all arguments on this thread will concern hip-hop (with a tolerable sports bar break).

To the vets, I apologize for responding to the alternative prick elton john poster. I will now ask that they all are on the ignore list.

Back to the topic, I haven't heard any new Nas diss except "supa ugly". But from what I'm hearin, damn, there must be about a hundred million. Everytime someone posts, I'm hearin about a new Nas diss.

Sidenote. Thank you for your support of the BEATS FOR CANIBUS FOUNDATION. We have tallied up $52,343.77 so far, we are approximately half way to purchasing a timbaland production, keep up the good work.

LOL. Where do I start? 3:16, that line about "Please tell me you didn't write this" was too funny. And the part about "I don't need to be no private eye to find stuff, the instructions are posted" was nice too. Steph. I never really been a fan of Wu so I can't say too much about them. I will say that I like a lot of the Meth singles that I heard like the joint with Mary J and Ex Girlfriend. Now that man Redman, I hate his style. Sorry to the Redman fans, but that man spits nonsense. I see your point Best, maybe that is why I'm not feelin Meth like before. Oh yeah, I like a few of Ghostface's singles too, like "All that I Got" and "Never be the Same" but to tell you the truth, I never heard an entire GF CD. Best, I heard half of the disses (thanx again) like 1-8 and them joints were close to terrible. Now I figured you were kind of hating because they were spittin' about Nas but I gotta agree with ya. And I was thinking the same thing about that line "Got ur self a gun, but won't use it." That was pretty good, but that does not excuse the other nonsense I heard. Now I didn't hear all of them yet so maybe it'll get better. Sage, I gotta say something about Elton. Whoever is trying to start a discussion about that man needs to move on. But for real, I don't think they really want a discussion, they just wanna hate on our joint and bring nonsense. Hopefully they had their fun and are finished. Hillis and Big J, I hate that hidden track bull. I think he did that because of bootlegging. I don't know, it's just a theroy. Lastly, I don't think we realize how big we made this thread. I was on a completely different site the other day and I saw a link to our old board. I think many post here, but even more just follow it without posting. All you non posters, go ahead and post and let us know what y'all think, or if you don't wanna do that, hit me on the email. Holla. Oh yeah, once again I gotta play the Jigga role and give myself props on that other post, LOL. "You? You love our style." Who said that? Who but Qool? LOL (and Nas lol)

Best, how do you like this line by Nas?: "God's Son" across the belly, the boss of rap /you saw me in Belly with thoughts like that to take it back to Africa. Not the deepest song but a somewhat deep line. Thus I feel it.

Qoolout, Thursday, 17 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

But you, without Sarah there would be no loving for the orginal Old dirty bastard... MC Serge Gainsbourg. MC Gainsbourg was the dirty old man of popular music; a French singer/songwriter and provocateur notorious for his voracious appetite for alcohol, cigarettes and women, his scandalous, taboo-shattering output made him a legend in Europe but only a cult figure in America, where his lone hit "Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus" stalled on the pop charts -- fittingly enough -- at number 69.

Born Lucien Ginzberg in Paris on April 2, 1928, his parents were Russian Jews who fled to France following the events of the 1917 Bolshevik uprising. After studying art and teaching, he turned to painting before working as a bar pianist on the local cabaret circuit. Soon he was tapped to join the cast of the musical Milord L'Arsoille, where he reluctantly assumed a singing role; self-conscious about his rather homely appearance, MC Gainsbourg initially wanted only to carve out a niche as a composer and producer, not as a performer.

Still, he made his recording debut in 1958 with the album Du Chant a la Une!; while strong efforts like 1961's L'Etonnant MC Gainsbourg and 1964's MC Gainsbourg Confidentiel followed, his jazz-inflected solo work performed poorly on the charts, although compositions for vocalists ranging from Petula Clark to Juliette Greco to Dionne Warwick proved much more successful. In the late 1960s, he befriended the actress Brigitte Bardot, and later became her lover; with Bardot as his muse, MC Gainsbourg's lushly-arranged music suddenly became erotic and delirious, and together, they performed a series of duets -- including "Bonnie and Clyde," "Harley Davidson" and "Comic Strip" -- celebrating pop culture icons.

MC Gainsbourg's affair with Bardot was brief, but its effects were irrevocable: after he became involved with constant companion Jane Birkin, they recorded the 1969 duet "Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus," a song he originally penned for Bardot complete with steamy lyrics and explicit heavy breathing. Although banned in many corners of the globe, it reached the top of the charts throughout Europe, and grew in stature to become an underground classic later covered by performers ranging from Donna Summer to Ray Conniff.

MC Gainsbourg returned in 1971 with Histoire de Melody Nelson, a dark, complex song cycle which signalled his increasing alienation from modern culture: drugs, disease, suicide and misanthropy became thematic fixtures of his work, which grew more esoteric, inflammatory and outrageous with each passing release. Although MC Gainsbourg never again reached the commercial success of his late-1960s peak, he remained an imposing and controversial figure throughout Europe, where he was both vilified and celebrated for his shocking behavior, which included burning 500 francs on a live television broadcast and recording a reggae version of the sacred "La Marseillaise."

MC Gainsbourg also created a furor with the single "Lemon Incest," a duet with his daughter, the actress Gainsbourg Boo. In addition, he posed in drag for the cover of 1984's Love on the Beat, a collection of songs about male hustlers, and made sexual advances towards Whitney Houston on a live TV broadcast. Along with his pop music oeuvre, MC Gainsbourg scored a number of films, and also directed and appeared in a handful of features, most notably 1976's Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus, which starred Birkin and Andy Warhol mainstay Joe Dallesandro. He died on March 2, 1991.

If you haven't figured it out by now then you should know that kazper is retaliating against the vets on this board with pasting the elton jhon stuff on here. I think we have found our new replacement for Manny. Well I haven't said much about the whole situation but Kazper if you are reading this I think you should have chosen a better way to resolve the problem. Yeah you are right the majority of us don't like new commers. Mostly because they are too typical! I think Qool, Hillis and a few others have said it before. When they come on here they say stuff that we already know, or stuff that is just plain ignorant. As us being regulars we have to establish that nonsence will not be tollorated. Kazper you seem pretty smart, no offence but a soldier doesn't go to war aginst an army with a stick and two stones. That means you are aginst a lot of people and it is a war you can't win. You have to choose the right battles to get into. This one you should back out of. This could get real heated on here and it wouldn't bring the best case senerio. This board is similar to a pit- bull in some ways. If you feed it gun powder and hot sause for 10 years then it knows not the taste of many fruits but the taste of flesh for the first times taints the pit-bull's mind. Then all hell breaks loose from that point on, it becomes hungry and ferosious with finding the next flesh that walks by. Then in an instant the colprate becomes the prey. And when one pit-bull goes many follow. And that flesh is is hovered and devalwered by them and they eat the dead carcus until it rots and has no taste. Don't become that piece of flesh that doesn't get away!

And lastly Kazper, I respect your pupose for fighting but you really don't relize that a lot of new commers come on here and get respect. People like me, steph, and 3:16 came on here after this thred was already filled with posts. I think I came in November or something like that. But anyways it's not like we don't allow new commers to state their opinion. But over time you get tired of immature people always comming on to the board always saying the same thing. It is too predictable! I can almost memorize what they say all the time like "Nas ain't fall off" or "Jay-z is the best rapper because he sells." Those little comments are so petty to read you just get fustrated. And on top of that they always start off by pointing out someones comments from like 4 months ago like "Man what the fuck is wrong with yall" blah blah blah! I think in order to survive on this post you need substance like my man Qool, or an unbias opinion like Steph, or a strong minded opinion like 3:16, or some battling skills like Hillis, Best, or Big J. People like that is the reason I come here. And somewhere there are diamonds in the ruff that are waiting to come out but if you come out wrong or too unconfident of your opinion then you become unoticed. I lerned that on the old post. Damn I running out of time before I have to get back to class. I will talk some more later I hope you see this Kazper and relize what I am saying because the regular have been saying this since the last post.

Hollywood Jaimison, Thursday, 17 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

Look, kazper. First off, when you came in here sayin all my shit was boo boo, and had the nerve to say I was a White boy, and then falsely accused me of starting beef, I already didn't like yo ass, but I played it cool. And while I'm defending DA SOUTH, you steadily screamin DIRTY, DIRTY, but clownin me. So now I'm like "Fuck you, nigga." You come in here doin this bitchin and whinin and moanin. Look, young one, if you come in here with a muthafuckin attitude, I can guarantee I'll come back with one, too. I tried to let it slide cuz you was from DOWN HEAH, but you become more of a bitch every time you post. I don't give a fuck who the imposter is, what he does, or any of that Elton John shit. Quit bein a goddam crybaby, and post what you feel about hip-hop or sports or whatver. You talkin all this shit about wantin war, but tryin to get sympathy cause ain't but one soldier in ya army. In the words of Nasir, "NEGRO PLEASE!" Quit all this back and forth bullshit. Get a fuckin point with ya beefs. When The Best, Big J, LOX, 3:16, and I were beefin we had points. We were defending our regions and our favorite MCs or what we like about hip- hop, or whatever. So I challenge you to find a point in here to expand on, and quit cryin about bein mistreated as a newcomer. All of us was new once, and we just made a name for ourselves. Quit bitchin, quit bitchin, quit bitchin! DAMN!

Kobe had 56 in three quarters against the Grizzlies, A.I. had 58 against the Spurs in overtime. Which is harder? I say they're equal, cuz Kobe could have scored 70, but definitely not 70 against the Spurs with Shaq out or Shaq playing.

Back to boxing: I'm sorry, but Rocky Marciano loses points from me because of when he boxed. I just don't think boxers from his day could have fucked with boxers of today. They hit much harder now. But that's my humble opinion.

Manny?! I don't really think it's you, but oh well. If it is Manny, Buenos dias and shit. How's life as Qoolout's ho?

I dislike gospel rap. I feel like gospel is the only music where it is solely based on lyrics. There's no such thing as gospel "rap" it's just simply gospel. But anyway, I don't like gospel rappers because they're usually not that good, and I feel guilty about judging them musically, when it's all about praisin "da lawd."

I been meanin to say this, but I'm just now realizin it. How can y'all say Jay-Z is arrogant? How can Nas ever clown Jay about spittin BIG's lines. Come on, Nas. That blasphemy in the "Got Urself A Gun" video is, well... blasphemous! Nas, you are NOWHERE NEAR PAC OR BIG! How dare you, Nas? Recall that video and never show it again! Next thing you know Al Sharpton gon be comparing himself to Malcom and Martin! (X and Luther King Jr, not Jamal-Warner and Lawrence)...

I must admit, Ether gets hotter every time I hear it. But don't be fooled. Takeover did that, too. Are y'all fools finally feelin me that Rewind is definitely the best song on Stillmatic?

The Best, I ain't never gon deny Wu's appeal and success, but seriously, those albums you mentioned are all from 96 and before. My boy is a huge Wu-Tang fan, and he used to bump Only Built For Cuban Linx all the time. And 36 chambers, and a lot of they old shit. I never got into the Wu simply cuz I didn't feel RZA's production. But you gotta admit, Wu has fell off, and I agree, Meth has dropped, but I still say he's the best cuz the rest of the muthafuckas always been off. ODB, Rae, Ghostface, GZA, RZA, all of em are weak on the mic. However, my boy be feelin "Liquid Swords." Is that a classic, too, or is he the only one who likes it? Redman isn't that impressive, either.

Tell the truth: Y'all be bumpin MC Serge Gainsbourg...

I'm out like Shaq for three more games. Peace!

LMAO........

We got the coward hater who can't even use it's own name. Then we have Anny, oh my fault Manny, rising from te dead. LMAO.

Stillmatic is PLATNUM!!!!!!!!

I never gave a shout out to Best and Big J, for reassuring my opinion on NaS and hip hop in General. Oh yeah, another shout out to Hillis for a legitimate opposing view. Qoolout, I have issues with your opinions too but, all of us defend hip hop to the deaf of it (anyone remember that word??).

OH YEAH SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO HOLLYWOOD FOR CREATING PART TWO IS THIS NOW FAMOUS THREAD KNOWN ALL OVER THE NET!!!!!!!(LOX STYLE,YOU LIKE??)

LOX you my boy with the all caps style that gives your grand entrance. Just tell'em why you mad son.

Oh yeah, Steph, I didn't forget you, another one ready to throw down for hip hop, hence the topic is this most hated on thread. At the rate we're going this thread will be a bitch to download by the end of the month.

Unfortunitely, the BEATS FOR CANIBUS FUND has taken a major downturn. I had to get an Infinity Q-45 with tinted windows, 55-CD Disc changer, and Platinum set of BFCF logoed rims. It's the official vehicle for the foundation. I may roll up to Soldier Field with it soliciting more mozzerella from the tailgaters. However, because of this setback, our new total is $2,375.93. As you can see, we are a long way from a timbaland, dre, or even RZA beat. Hopefully the in-fin-ite will mark as a good investment.

Hillis and Sage, I know y'all don't still play that joint, do you, lol? But it was the game back in the day. Big J, that GTA site didn't work. Hillis, I don't think that's Manny either, I mean Anny. I ran cuz off along time ago; [s]he don't want it with Qool. If it ain't him, then the wanna be did his homework because it sounded like that bull Anny used to spit. Anyway, if Anny (the fake or the real)addresses moi again then history will repeat itself. Sage, yeah I don't agree with all that you post either, but I give you respect just like I give most of the other posters. I guess none of you saw Suge Knight on Carson. That man had me rolling. He said a lot, but I gotta ask is there any truth to one particular point. He said Jay was in L.A. recently and got tied up, yes, tied up and robbed. Anybody hear anything similar? And I already asked about B- print, so what's y'all's fave joint from Stillimatic and why? "One Mic" is mine.

Hillis 3000, Friday, 18 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

"It's him!" "Who, Who is it?" The Best mothafuckas. Alright Hillis, like I said earlier Nas in my opinion is like the Michael Jordan of hip hop. For instance, Nas emerged onto the rap scene with a dominating lp in ILLMATIC, as though Michael did with his spectacular emergence as a rookie and during his early years on the Bulls. They both came in to their respective professions with greatness. Then Nas released "It Was Written" which in my opinion is a classic album in today's commerical "hip hop" world, but since all of Nas's albums are rated off the quota of Illmatic, it received 4.5 mics. "It Was Written" represents Jordans first three NBA titles. MJ was good those years, but we still didn't see his full potential until later in his career. Then Nas dropped "I Am" (which is a solid album), and "Nastradamus". This is where Nas tried to do something that he was unfamiliar with, and that was trying to be MTV/BET popular or "commercial"(Oh yeah you can't forget about The Firm project, this basically represents Jordan's problems with gamblin' and playin' golf LMAO). These two albums or mainly Nastradamus represent when Jordan retired and tried to play baseball, eh? #23 was tryin' to do something that wasn't him. So what happened, he came out of retirement and entered the N.B.A. as number #45. Jordan's #45 represent Nas's appearance on the QB Finest album. His spits were good, but they still weren't the Nas everyone once knew, just like Jordan wearing #45. With wearing #45 Jordan got put out of the playoffs by the Orlando Magic with Shaq(who some feel is the dominant player/king in basketball **hint** Jay Z). So the following year, Jordan returned back to wearing that number #23 jersey again, and what happened he won 3 more titles, and was pronounced the G.O.A.T. in hoopin'. Jordan rewearing number #23 symbolizes the release of Nas's 5th lp STILLMATIC. Nas has returned to back his roots, and again has reclaimed his spot as King of NY, and in many individuals eyes the Best out right now. And don't doubt it, but years from now niggaz will even pronounce dun as the G.R./E.O.A.T. (Greatest Rapper/Emcee Of All Time). Now the reason why Nas can be mentioned in the same category as Pac and BIG is because in '95/'96 when the whole Death Row/Bad Boy beef was big, who was the only other nigga still receiving recognition......Nas with "It Was Written". Sit down for one minute and ask yourself, why did Pac start beefin' with Nas? I'll tell you, it's because he felt threatened by Nas. The whole beef between Nas and Pac started extremely akward. In '95 Pac and Nas bumped into eachother at "The House of Blues" and Pac told Nas(exact words, if you don't believe me, look it up for yourself) "Yo Nas we love you man, this Eastcoast shit got nothin' to do with you"-Pac. After that Pac thought Nas was takin' indirect shots at him on "It Was Written" sayin' shit like "Fake thug, no love, u the slug...." and "left the hospital the same night, WHAT?", but Nas made it perfectly clear that he WAS NOT gettin' at Pac(I also have the feelin' that Suge kind of pushed Pac into goin' at Nas because who was the new Aftermath producer gettin' down with Nas.....You guessed it Dr. Dre. And what record company did he just leave.....Death Row. So this can also be a indirect retaliation by Suge). But being the person Pac is, he to offense to that and made several disses on "Against All Odds" on the Makaveli lp. But before the Dun Killumanati lp came out Nas and Pac met up again at the '96 MTV music awards and squashed the beef. Pac told Nas that he was going to take those Nas disses out of "Against All Odds", but never had the chance to be cause of his unexpected death. Also, Suge was on the Angie Martinez show on Hot 97 a couple of days agao, and she asked him does he still have beef with any of Pac's old enemies? He said hell yeah, he'd ride for Pac until the death. He said that Pac and Nas settled their beef though before Pac passed, so he has respect for Nas. He also said that Jay Z got snuffed and robbed in LA, and if he ever wants his rollie back to come get at him LMAO!! Suge ALSO was talkin' about how if he had enough time that he would have bought out BIG's contract(IMAGINE THAT!!) Not only did Pac respect and felt lyrically threatened by Nas, but also did Christopher Wallace. Ask any head in NY, and see that they put you upon the same thing. Even BIG said it himself that he and Nas had a friendly battle goin' on to see who was the hottest in NY(just for the record, Jay Z was NO WHERE IN THE PICTURE!!) Trust me, Pac and BIG had mad respect for Nas, and I feel whenever they are brought up Nas should also be mentioned. One last thing about Pac, honestly dun didn't blow up until he released "Me Against The World", all his albums before that were subpar, while Nas jumped out of the gates with ILLMATIC and was quickly declared the Next coming of Rakim by KRS 1. Oh and my fav. joint off of STILLmatic would be "You're Da Man". I don't know, I love the soft melodic(is that a word) beat, and Nas just graces it with fire lyrics. Finally, from now on 3:16 will be known as Steveina, not Steve-I-N-A, but like a female's name. "He's leaving!" "Who, Who's leaving?" The Best mothafuckas. ~1~

The Best, Friday, 18 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-two years ago) link

The Best, cuz, I thought for a second you might think I was takin a subtle stab at you (a la Pac and Nas/BIG), but you kept yo cool, unlike Pac. I meant to put up a disclaimer, but I forgot. But I see everything's aiight. Anyway, wassup wit them Kappas? They started whuppin that ass yet? I ain't tryin to clown, but you know you gon get beat down pledgin at an HBCU. I mean, you'd get beat down elsewhere, but especially when the whole school is full of niggas.

About, Nas. I still only be feelin half of you. Nas cannot be Jordan. I Am and Nastradamus were not just gambling problems. They were his attempts at playing ball. Jordan may have gambled, but on the court, he did what he had to do. And I Am and Nastradumus...Nas didn't do what he was supposed to do. It Was Written had some good cuts, but it was only successful cuz of Illmatic. But I agree, any album of Nas' with "illmatic" in it somewhere was hot. Other than that, they show that Nas is not God MC.

Nas came out the gate strong, but he still fell off. Pac may not have started as hot as Nas, but in the end Pac's success has no near rival. PLUS, Nelly, BONE, and BIG started off just as hot. Now, I have heard all the stuff about Nas squashin beef with Pac, but about Pac and BIG worried about Nas' success? Well, I don't know, but Pac had nothing to worry about. Nas may have had the lyrical edge, but that, as we all kniow, doesn't impress the majority of hip=hop's fans. Pac's delivery gave him the edge on every rapper, plus his lyrics weren't that bad, and he combined it with a certain image, albeit real or not (did I use "albeit" correctly?) Nas is good, but I still say nowhere near Pac or even BIG.

The Best, I'm sure there's somethin we can agree on. Who's your most hated college hoops team?

I'm out like a runner tagged at first. Peace.

And the way I see it, that white center we aquired catches the ball as horribly as Mutumbo and for once Philly has a second scoring option. It would be really helpful if we signed that dude from the Celtics, Rodney Rogers.

So who's gonna start the new thread? Shit, I don't want to start the new thread and don't nobody show. Who gon start it? Big J? What up with it?

Anyway, "Weak Van Corn" is not the second scorer Philly needed. They need somebody who can create on their own like A.I. and not some slow, sorry white guy. ANd 18 points a game may be good in high school, but in the NBA that ain't shit. Plus Van "P"orn ain't got NO defense. That was a horrible trade. As a matter of fact, why did they get rid of MacCulloch in the first place just to take him back? What the hell was Philly thinking? And with Mutumbo dominating the middle, that allows the Net guards to D real tight cause they know they got the Mount backin them up! I say this helps the Nets big time and fucks the Sixers. Poor A.I. First his wife fucks his cousin after he boots her out buck naked and now he loses his inside presence. What the fuck is goin on? Oh well......... LAKER FOUR PEAT!!! HA HA HA HA HA!!!

What up, H3K?! I'm still here! big ass riot up in Cheshire Correctional Saturday (Where infamous Keith Murray was at).And I just got out of training the 2 weeks before. I am now officially a correction officer. During the 10 weeks you're considered a "cadet". Anyways, it was more of them than there was of us, and I thought they was gonna whoop our asses! Most of the prisoners actually showed enough respect to chill before we got brolik. They taught us some shit in training like judo, taekwon-ESE and some Nigga-PLEASE (LOL at Ced the entertainer!!) The hours suck though. Everyday the hours are different, and there's mandatory OT, but it's all worth it when payday comes. That's why I dont be on the CPU that much but I will still keep in contact. This thread will never die. Part 3, the Saga still continues(so do the battles.........................

just recently I was remembering the halcyon days of these threads, it's wonderful to imagine their principals now grown people out there in the world, the former indefatigable regulars of the Nas vs. Jay-Z thread
