I wish the same for mine. I assume we'd all like that for our own polls

Reviving this thread, because Timbuk3's "Wheel Of Fortune" came up today. They'll always be known as the one hit "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades" band, but on those four IRS albums if you dig in between the inferior novelty song hit attempts there's some great downer college rock. "Wheel Of Fortune" (from 1989's Edge Of Allegiance) is something else... someone current could cover this and make a zillion dollars.

Information is scarce on Esperanza Encantada. Lorenzo Martinez, along with his sisters Roberta and Doris were the children of a famous mariachi family in Albuquerque. In the 60s the trio had been performing traditional music under the name Los Chamacos, but at some point they started covering a lot more rock and roll when in 1970 they got signed. They changed their name to Esperanza Encantada and recording one album. The cover of "Let It Be" ("Sea Asi") is nice and "If I Were A Carpenter" ("Si Yo Fuera Carpintero") is unexpected, but stick around to 5:37 when New Mexican hippie boogie band Mudd kicks in and there's a legitimate fuck yeah moment. BTW, that's future Ozzy/Crue drummer Randy Castillo playing drums so that fuck yeah is indeed legit. "Manna" (at 11:56) is worth stopping at too.

Would’ve voted Sun Dial / Acid Yantra; love that album. I was surprised to read in an interview with Gary Ramon from last year that he had originally been in talks with Steve Albini to record it.

I remember seeing an ad for Reflecter in Alternative Press when it had first come out. I’d never heard of the band but something about their name and the album name and cover totally drew me in, and then reading the song titles when I found it at the record store convinced me to take a chance on it. Still one of my favorites from that era. I haven’t followed them/him very closely since Acid Yantra but I find something off-putting about the way his vocals have been recorded on the stuff I’ve heard since then. I blast their cover of Magic Potion when I need a burst of energy.
