I don't know if they qualify as famous but the Minnesota backpacker Rhymesayers stuff. I was forced to listen to an Atmosphere CD once, that was enough.

Are probably the most prominent. I'm also not a huge fan of The Roots, UGK, Memphis rap, and I actively dislike that Gravediggaz record. And things like Death Grips.

I'm probably not in any position to judge, but am shocked at two mentions of EPMD so far. If I had to leave out the rest and keep only five, EPMD would be in it.
