Tied + Tickled Trio?

Has anyone heard these guys? Apparently a Notwist offshoot, and not actually a trio at all. I've heard high praise from friends who are usually pretty picky.

I've just got a load of it. It's very, very jazz in instrumentation. Personally I can't get over the sound of a saxaphone in popular music without thinking of 80's twatpop, although some of it does verge on lovely 50's jazz style textures. It's quite dub in places, often a bit wanky but there quite a few joys to be had.

It's nice background listening to the Notwist, it gives you a good impression of what the members who don't write the songs or do the programming actually do. I'm keen on getting some stuff by Console, their laptop guy, I very much like the understated trickery on Neon Golden (i.e. how GOOD is "This Room").

If you like the jazz vibe on the Notwist's _Shrink_, you'll like the T&TT. Try EA1 EA2. I'd avoid the remix EA1 EA2 album as a first purchase. Ymmv. Console, I dug _Pan or Ama_. _Reset the Preset_ is more hit and miss, but still decent. Those are the only two I have. Will buy _Rocket in the Pocket_ eventually.

You can check almost all of the Notwist & related bands' releases on RA at their site. Also, would recommend the silent Hamlet soundtrack Markus Acher plays on - _Alles wie Gross_ - for its instrumental vibe. Very cool. Not positive, but think it's led by the guy behind Couch, an excellent instrumental band of the same circle.

Thanks for the link.

I actually haven't heard that much of the Notwist, but I'm coming from jazz, electronic and whatnot, so it sounds right up my alley. I'm probably going to order Observational Systems or whatever the newest one is called.

nineteen years pass...

Lol. 'Observing Systems' is absolutely a touchstone record for me, just an incredible blend of jazz, dub, and electronic music with great arrangements for the horns. I went back to it after listening to some recent records by the sax player, Johannes Enders (who has a beautiful tone, highly recommend his duo record with a church organist "In Paradisum"). I think of it as a super underrated and nearly unknown record, but the first track (the clear highlight, just an amazing exercise in tension & release over the simplest possible pedal bassline) has almost 3 mil plays on spotify.

Another fave is Aelita, no horns but lots of spacious dub and bell tones. I need to go back through their other records.

A fan of Observing Systems too and agree re first track. Couldn’t get into Aelita but I like Electric Avenue Tapes.
