Curtis Mayfield, "No Thing on Me" from the Superfly soundtrack. Guided by Voices' "Cocaine Jane".

Ace Frehley's "Snowblind" is probably cocaine, too (it's not the same as the Black Sabbath song, though).

Oliver, Thursday, 3 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

I remember that Ace Frehley song, from his solo album. "Hotel California" is certainly very cokey, if not directly so. In fact, the entire Eagle's canon just reeks of fine Peruvian flake. Doesn't Stevie Nicks have some "Snowblind" or "Snowstorm" song as well?

No one has mentioned "Cocaine" by Clapton or by Jackson Browne yet. Maybe they're too obvious.

Be Here Now: the 90's cocaine record.

micheal reed, Friday, 4 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

There was a crappy undistinguished AOR-hard rock band in the 70s called Charlie, whose album was 'hilariously' titled 'Lines'. This is the sort of thing you think is hilarious when you're 'night-skiing nose first', as Rollins put it.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing, more pathetic than watching folks snort that shit and listen to songs about the drug they are ingesting, giving them the smug satisifaction that their rock hero is also on their side. Coke, heroin, and in some cases, the ole ganja. Watching upper class white kids with BMers taking gravity bong hits while listening to Peter Tosh with that goddamn ubiquitous Marley poster on the wall. Fuck me running.

Gage-o, Saturday, 5 January 2002 01:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

"Cocaine" is by JJ Cale. Clapton covered it later on.

I agree with Tracer Hand. The minimal lyrics to that song are great and should be an inspiration to all aspiring lyricists. To all you aspiring lyricists.

The great thing about my e-mail address is that it will get stupider every year until at least 2010.

International by Thomas Leer.

followed by the Midnight Express and Scarface soundtracks by Georgio Moroder.

COCA-DISCO LIVES!!!!!!!

Neuro-Tek - "Cocaine" Happy Hardcore is the ideal coke music - superficial, hyperactive and fun. Plus it has a great off-beat bleepy thing going on.

Schoolly D - "Gucci Time" Clearly about cocaine.
