1) "Wuthering Heights" by Kate Bush was released in 1977. A debut single, it went to No.1. Perhaps initially regarded as a novelty, this book-to-song adaptation actually proved the foundation of a durable pop career. What do you think of it now?
2) "Wuthering Heights" vs "Rollin' Heights", Taking Sides.

I really like "Wuthering Heights", but are you talking about Omni Trio's "Rollin' Heights", Tom? Choosing between those two might be quite difficult - though really early Omni Trio was always like Kate Bush played really fast anyway. Re: Wuthering Heights, I always liked the way that the song sort of captured Cathy as she was in the book while simultaneously drawing on the same swoony romanticism that was the basis of the film but was never at all present in the book - sort of a grand synthesis. Note: re-recorded version from '86 or so is superior - same flighty innocence but slightly less piercing vocals.

This track, along with "Running Up that Hill", point to a prodigious talent that seems strangely absent these days.... maybe im offside but her etherial detachment and aloofness kinda reminds me somewhat of Bjork.
Didnt she appear from nowhere at the Q Awards recently? Looking just as good as ever ive heard.
