My Love I Love

This will probably be a small thread but I am quite curious. Also, Keiko and Mickey B Eyes had things to say on the "album purchase regret" thread.. SO.... Bogdan Raczynski - My Love I Love..... what is this all about?

And HERE is the pitchfork review if it is of interest to anybody.

i struggled with this album to be honest, i haven't really had time to give it a full go yet, so judgement is reserved to an extent. i'll read the pitchfork review in a bit, and see if i agree/disagree with their points. i think i need to give it a few more listens, but at the moment i'm not swayed by it

Personally, I love it. Even if it is deemed a failed experiment by most people it's the fact that he took the chance to do it and fail spectacularly than certain artists who fail mildly in rehashing old material that they've already gone over and over again. I'm all for the explicitly emotional to take over IDM and its artistic output. But, sadly, for every My Love I Love I guess we're going to have ten people trying to replicate Drukqs to varying effect. How many people are going to try to replicate this thing? (I can hear the comeback now: "And why would they want to?")

i'm not sure we will get druckqs rehashes though. partly because druckqs isn't particularly new in any way, and partly down to the critical response which has been, um, muted

I saw this thread, pulled it out for the first time in a couple months & it sounded excellent. What's the feeling among those who don't dig it? Too sappy?

I love My Love I Love. He sings about as well as I do, and I'm always a sucker for that. It's got the best use of accordion on a twee idm record that I've heard to date. And the packaging is nice too.

It's not that I dislike the album... I was just completely shocked. I purchased it thinking it'd be a frantic D&B deviant thing full of Japanese vocal snippets and video game sounds and whatnot. It's my fault really... I shouldn't have assumed that the album's title and cover were jokes. He really is being sincere here, isn't he? I think I may be developing a very specific mood exclusively for this album.....

This thread must never die. What is the specific mood to you have to be in? I've been very tired as I've been falling in love with it. Relavent? Also, why is the line "With a bouqet of flowers/with a bouqet... OF MY LOVE" so great?

eight months pass...
i heard a track from 96 drum'n'bass classics or whatever its called, and it was really quite good, should i buy the album?
