This was the only specific ASMZ thread that turned up so...
They were totally sublime last night - they utterly have the magic still; movingly beautiful, rousing, funny... just wonderful.

This is the only ASMZ album I feel the need to listen to these days.

Great album. Probably my favourite of theirs lyrically. 'This is Our Punk Rock' really grew on me over the years too. I saw them live once, on the 'Horses in the Sky' tour. They played a then unreleased 'Blind Blind Blind' which was one of the most profoundly beautiful things I've witnessed. Still need to pick up the new LP. Shame on me.

last time i saw them efrim and other guitarist broke two strings each during the set, and all the time spent replacing them was filled with actual laugh out loud banter and crowd interaction. coolest smartest funniest dudes of any band.

The lovely ladies of Silver Mt. Zion on Friday night. Hairy blokes to follow...

I can't believe they're not coming to Vienna on this tour when they're playing practically every other city in Europe AND they played to a massive sold-out crowd last time they were here. Makes no sense at all, except in the weird world of bookers and promoters.

I sort of forgot about these guys after being thoroughly blown away by their first two albums, which remain among my all time favourites. For whatever reason I'd sort of thought they'd fallen off, what with poor reviews of their third album and all, So, Horses in the Sky and the one after that are supposed to be serious stuff, no? Sadly I can't see myself taking the effort to listening to it/getting it, but, well, we'll see.

They're getting better as they go along. Better = louder. Since it doesn't look like GYBE are going to get back together anytime soon Efrim is channelling his loud rock thing into SMZ now.

there's no reason you should like their new stuff if you like older stuff, hugely different appeal. they've gone from post-rock imitating modern classical music to post-rock imitating black sabbath. i don't know, i like both.

I have no adversion to loudness ( I actually would do well to have some more, actually) Hmmn, I'll download some stuff and keep an eye out for used CD's. They're playing here in like 2 months, and I've always wanted to see them live too, so...

this is my favourite late-period ASMZ stoner rock song. and i said this in another thread but absolutely incredible live band.

That tune was an absolutely stunning highlight to an already monsterously good Glasgow set last week. Spine-tinglingly awesome.

New rockumentary about SMZ, balancing life on the road with bringing up a kid and trying to make a living out of music. Looks really interesting, hope I get to see it.

The new record "Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything", is pretty stellar. I had been out of the loop with this band for so long, I didn't even know they used vocals now.Either way, this album is really good imo.
