Pete & the Pirates - Little Death

No thread so far? The first time I heard them, as background in a bar, I thought them unremarkable; part of the sub-Libertines stream that's been everywhere for years.

Jogging in Brooklyn I listened again, and found them fantastic: I heard The Clean, C-86 bands, sparkly Californian pop, and I guess the Jam. They seem under the radar-ish though. Anyone else like em?

Yes, I have liked this album a lot this year. Total rolling-indie-filter stuff (i.e., I bet this thread ends here), but this disc is packed with some deceptively catchy little tunes.

At least 5 times I've had some hook stuck in my head and can't place it for weeks, then a song from this album comes up on shuffle and I go "oh, yeah, I totally forgot about that..."

The version I got came with a bonus disc of 3 or 4 more songs, and they're fun too.

Their new album ("One Thousand Pictures") is a little darker, murkier, but just as great. I'm again reminded of Flying Nun. Fantastic. If they didn't get attention the first time round, then I bet this thread ends here, but I'm cool with that. Me and a clutch of friends are quietly mad for them.
