Wait, we're measuring by torrents? What the hell are we looking at here?

If Timi Yuro would be still alive, most other singers could shut up, Wednesday, 6 August 2008 07:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I seriously question the methodology behind any "most popular songs of the 2000s" list which has "Country Grammar" as the only Nelly track

bernard snowy, Wednesday, 6 August 2008 09:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Rilly. I don't listen to the radio and even I hear "Hot in Herre" on the radio.

It rains and songs come out of it.

Why aren't there any songs newer than 2005?

Tuomas, Wednesday, 6 August 2008 12:23 (sixteen years ago) link

Clocks is fucking awful, and I don't even HATE Coldplay really.

"Love At First Sight" by a fair way.

edwardo, Wednesday, 6 August 2008 12:28 (sixteen years ago) link

Destiny's or Outkast. Hey Ya is more anthemic, but I listen to Say My Name way more.

"bonnie & clyde 03" but no "crazy in love"?

s1ocki, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Things I remember liking, at least a little bit, at first:

U2 - Beautiful Day
Train - Drops of Jupiter
Fatboy Slim - Rockafeller Skank
Coldplay - Yellow
Blu Cantrell - Hit 'Em Up Style
Alicia Keys - Fallin'
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
Destiny's Child - Say My Name
Outkast - Hey Ya
Jagged Edge feat. Nelly - Where The Party At
Nelly - Country Grammar
Jay Z and Beyonce - '03 Bonnie & Clyde
Cam'ron - Hey Ma

contenderizer, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:26 (sixteen years ago) link

whoa. these are pretty much uniformly terrible. i voted for "Clint Eastwood," but only by default.

Beatrix Kiddo, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 20:31 (sixteen years ago) link

I'd be happy to hear all of these right now:

* 03 - Fatboy Slim - Rockafeller Skank (January 2000).mp3 6 Mb
* 11 - Coldplay - Yellow (May 2001).mp3 6 Mb
* 12 - Blu Cantrell - Hit 'Em Up Style (September 2001).mp3 4 Mb
* 15 - Limp Bizkit - Rollin (December 2000).mp3 5 Mb
* 20 - Blink 182 - All The Small Things (January 2000).mp3 4 Mb
* 29 - Fuel - Hemorrhage (January 2001).mp3 4 Mb
* 33 - Outkast - Hey Ya (October 2003).mp3 5 Mb
* 36 - Pink - Don't Let Me Get Me (March 2002).mp3 3 Mb
* 40 - Nelly - Country Grammar (September 2000).mp3 4 Mb

I think I'm going with the Pink song. 'CAUSE I'M A HAZARD TO THIS POLL! And because it actually does manage to work on a personal/catharsis level way way better than anything from the entire genre of emo-pop.

The most inexplicable thing on here by FAR is "Cleanin' Out My Closet." It's not even the most popular Eminem song of 2002! Similarly, the Maroon 5 song I never heard of before, while Coldplay gets two tracks for some reason.

Worst: "American Badass" versus "Jaded."

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 22:22 (sixteen years ago) link

City High deserves some love! But today, I was driving on the highway, and the clouds started coming out and then it suddenly started POURING. Guess what track came on right then? "Hit 'Em Up Style"! And it sounded massive!

M@tt He1ges0n, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 23:11 (sixteen years ago) link

rollin, obvs.

jeremy waters, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 23:27 (sixteen years ago) link

This list is a massive shame list. There are few if any exceptions. Good lolz tho.
