am really enjoying what i've heard from this label so far, and surprised there isn't much mention on ILM. the versatile 2008 comp is really good throughout - the etienne jaumet track 'repeat again after me' in particular is excellent, this constantly ascending melody climaxing in total sax frenzy, one of the best tracks of the year for me.

the zombie zombie album a land for renegades is what made me make this thread though - awesome krautrocky electro, lots of horror movie soundtrack influences & samples (apparently it's meant to be structured like one?) - real tense, piledriving stuff w/a real menacing air. beautifully clean production, too.

This all sounds intriguing -- any other recommendations on the label?

that 2008 comp is great - of things related to what's on it, you need the original mixes of 'repeat again after me' (the one present on the comp is an edit) and prins thomas' folk-disco mix of 'before i started to dance'. they've done a few other label comps which would be good start points too - hot shots, family album, mixtape, versatile 98

i:cube - search as much as possible including 'disco cubizm' (daft punk remix), 'acid tablet' 12", 'prophetization' 12", 'vacuum jackers' (maurice fulton remix)

joakim is great of course.

vahid is probably deeeeeep into this label, i bet.

"driving this road until death sets you free" didn't really do it for me, but that comp does look like a lot of fun. sold me on "total sax frenzy"

I was never really feeling the Zombie Zombie album but they were pretty rad playing to a wretchedly small crowd here a week or so ago. Synth porn for synth pervs I suspect

The Etienne Jaumet album is pretty dope, like a dark answer to Lindstrom's where you go I go to.

I like to imagine them battling for my soul using the 20min synth opus as their chosen weapons.

Zombie Zombie new 12" - all John Carpenter covers, Turzi guests on guitar, Joakim doing the mix, cover by La Boca.

Sick.

Love the new 12"
xpost

Only caught the final two minutes of their set at a festival last weekend. What a bummer. Hallogallo 2010 almost made up for it though ;-)

They were great on Halloween, doing the Carpenter EP.

Jaumet seemed a really nice guy before the gig.

I almost think its a shame the EP isn't a live one as there was much more feeling in the live versions than the recorded versions.

It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be but they played pretty late on a Sunday night.

Revive! And credit to lex for starting this thread and discredit for me not following up any earlier.

Anyway, a friend also into Versatile/Zombie Zombie just recommended this with a comparison to Legendary Pink Dots. And it turns out it's a Sun Ra cover as well

Should note that was released last year along with a new full album, so this is more just retrospective goodness.
