'Do You Realize?' vs 'Into Your Arms' as wedding song

tough decision

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize - we're floating in space -
Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry
Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - Oh - Oh - Oh
Do You Realize - that everyone you know
Someday will die -

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It's hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn't go down
It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face
Do You Realize

------------

I don't believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

And I don't believe in the existence of angels
But looking at you I wonder if that's true
But if I did I would summon them together
And ask them to watch over you
To each burn a candle for you
To make bright and clear your path
And to walk, like Christ, in grace and love
And guide you into my arms

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

And I believe in Love
And I know that you do too
And I believe in some kind of path
That we can walk down, me and you
So keep your candlew burning
And make her journey bright and pure
That she will keep returning
Always and evermore

Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms, O Lord
Into my arms

Thought "Into Your Arms" was going to be the Lemonheads song. Dunno this one.

"Into My Arms" is certainly more romantic. I wouldn't really recommend either, tbh.

I would say that "Do You Realize?" is more like a funeral song.

i'd say pick something you can actually dance to

I'm trying to pick a song for the 'i do moment'

My girlfriend said the same thing about 'Do You Realize', but I love the lyrics and I think of it as something to celebrate life

Do You Realize is a dismal and terrifying song made to seem uplifting by means of subtil trickery.

That's not just me saying that, that's the Pentagon. (contenderizer), Friday, 2 October 2009 14:45 (fifteen years ago) link

Went to a schmindie wedding over the summer when 'Do You Realize' was played as part of the ceremony. All it made me think of was the video they projected when they played this live which consisted of a naked lady kick-boxing.

went to a wedding with "Love Will Tear Us Apart" used as processional ... couple divorced within a year.

^^Me, performing "Into My Arms" at a wedding.

And another friend actually had Wayne Coyne dedicate "Do You Realize?" to her and her fiancee at a big Flaming Lips concert in Chicago.

Wonderful sentiments for a long-lasting marriage. Go for the other one (I thought it was going to be the Lemonheads one as well).

"Into My Arms" was a good one for a wedding in which the participants were not religious but their parents were.

pretty sure Do You Realize was actually written for a Wayne Coyne's recently deceased gramps or something??

"Do You Realize?" neatly summarizes why I've come to hate the F'Lips of the last dozen years.

yes, that's our case. I think my grandpa won't be very happy with the first line of 'Into My Arms'. He's quite upset this won't be a religious wedding.

Good news is old people can only hear lyrics when they are very distinct. Tell DJ to turn up volume just after the first line ;)
