We've done this before.

"heliosphan" is the one that springs to mind for me.

I always go back and forth between Ageispolis and Delphium but it's usually Ageispolis. (They're actually quite similar both in structure and melodically, but I just love the bleep sound on Ageispolis.)

We've done this before.

rly? i thought so too but none in the archives unless it has a strange title

Yeah, it was probably called something stupid like Xtpoll - then again, perhaps it was SAWII I'm thinking of.

(Not that I'm complaining, mind you, there can never be enough Aphex Twin threads for me.)

That said, I'm still dithering about Rephresh tonight because I hate going to things like that by myself. :-(

The first 4 are all great and after that I can't remember which tracks are which. But, damn, those first 4 are really great. Probably voting xtal or Ageispolis.

Xtal, Tha, We Are The Music Makers*, and Schottkey 7th Path are all great, but the winner is Ageispolis.

*whose sample I was alarmed to stumble across while briefly watching Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

I'm still convinced, convinced I can hear Only Fools and Horses samples in Tha. I can hear Del Boy saying "king in the castle" at one point.

Ptolemy! all the way ptolemy ptolemy ptolemy!

got electrolytes (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Tuesday, 28 September 2010 23:21 (fourteen years ago) link

this is such a special album, could conceivably vote for at least half the tracks

another album i didn't srsly take an interest in for years despite liking most of the rest of afx, but i'm mystified in retrospect because this is such a transparently brilliant record

the gossamer synths and electro insistency create a lighter-than-air driftiness that's really unplaceable, not kosmische but not of this world (whereas the second selected ambient works is very much a chthonic creature)

nothing gets close

seven years pass...

Anyone know if there is a discernible difference between the original version and the 2008 remaster? I have an early US CD version of this that's showing signs of disc rot and want to upgrade, but I'm wary of remasters (unless the differences are negligible)
