Ok, so rip on Michael Bay by ripping off his techniques and trying to make a big-budget short? I mean, that irony right there is funnier than the whole film.

Best short film ever

They intentionally ripped off his technique in the name of satire. I thought that was pretty obvious.

Yeah, but they didn't really do anything with it. They just made a low-budget Michael Bay short, and happened to riff briefly on the fact that his techniques suck. They didn't show why they sucked. In fact, it's hard to believe the short would be compelling w/o them.

I think you might be missing the point. The film isn't really about why Michael Bay sucks, it's about the "battle" so to speak between the indies and Hollywood. Hollywood, of course, always wins in the end.

I guess I just didn't find it that great, that's all.

That being said, they did a great job on what was undoubtedly a tight budget.

That film "Rejected" is absolutely hilarious.

My name is Todd Norris, and I'm the writer/director of "Killing Michael Bay". Just wanted to say that I watched that "Rejected" movie and laughed my ass off. Good sound effects in it, also. It would've been even funnier if it had been a little shorter (cutting a few of the less funny vignettes), but I still love that absurd style of humor! I used to make animated flipbooks in the margins of paperback novels, and I always made liberal use of the red ink pen for blood, so I can relate.

*Thanks* for the link for Rejected...I had been looking forward to seeing it on the Cartoon Network a while ago, and then at the last minute, they pulled it because of the use of the phrase "Sweet Jesus" (so the bleeding anus scene is okay, but "Sweet Jesus" is not? Okaaaay.)

Also check out the other films that Don Hertzfeldt has made (especially "Lily and Jim" and "Billy's Balloon")...can't wait for the compilation DVD to come out.
