rolling old-tyme baseball photograph thread

I've been browsing through the LOC photo site, and they have a pretty good selection of turn of the century (and pre-20th) baseball photography. I'm going to throw the ones with big TIF files into LR and do some cleaning and brightening and make prints for myself. Anyone who winds up wanting a full-size TIF or JPG of any of these, holla at me and I'll upload it somewhere other than Flickr.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/41/Jim_McCormick_baseball_card.jpg/331px-Jim_McCormick_baseball_card.jpg

James McCormick (November 3, 1856 – March 10, 1918) was a Scottish right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball. A native of Glasgow, he was the first ballplayer born in Scotland to appear in a major league game.

McCormick was great friends with Mike "King" Kelly and was also very well liked by Cap Anson, two of the great personalities of early baseball. Anson was McCormick's captain-manager in 1885 and 1886, when Chicago won its last 19th-century pennants.

In Paterson starting in 1885, McCormick co-owned a bar with a fellow former local player, Dave Treado. It had a ticker, to post results of games and races. Before the 1888 season and probably at other times, Kelly did some bartending for him. That August, when McCormick’s wife Jennie died, Kelly wired a former mutual Chicago teammate, and "telegraphed Mr. Joseph Towell, the [Paterson] florist, to get up something handsome, and this consisted of `The Gates Ajar,’ the sides of which were made from nephetos [presumably nepetas, aromatic herbs in the mint family] and white roses, the base of carnations, yellow roses and white lilies. The gates were made of ivy leaves, the whole being surmounted by a dove."

97% sure that's me just to the coach's right. (Couldn't remember his name, but someone ID'd him as Mr. Morton in the comments.) I'm so proud of those pants--I hadn't even read Ball Four yet, but I was already bucking the system. Typically, I'm trying to sneak a glance at the lineup card, worried about where I'm batting or even if I'm starting.

I miss a lot--see discussion of Shohei Ohtani New Yorker cover--so I didn't notice that...You might be right, though, that the M (almost subliminally) has something to do with it. It's their bulldog-like builds, which I associate with the '50s, that seemed off to me.

Sorry I should say:

The last photo was taken in Washington D.C. during the 1912 World Series between the Giants and the Red Sox. All those people are there to watch the 1912 equivalent of "Game Day" eg, someone watching a ticker tape and moving little wooden figures around a board to represent the action.

The previous photo is of a game at Old Forbes Field in Pittsburgh during the 1960 World Series, taken from a seemingly impossible angle. They look like they're in a blimp! However I'm pretty sure they're on the roof of the building you can see in the distance just to the right of the grandstand in this picture: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forbes_Field#/media/File:Forbes_Field_football.jpg
