Twitter embeds

Dear devs/mods : would you add the option to turn off Twitter embeds, as you did with images? It would improve my ILX experience to see no more tweets here, and I gather some others would agree.

I think it'd be worth separating, although I think if you turn off images, you also remove twitter embeds?

I'd like them independent because of the opposite use case

(current wording on the pref is Show Images (and other embedded media, like videos and Tweets) for reference)

Just tried this and it works, which is just as well as as of this morning, pages with embeds are crashing the browser on my phone. I'd still like to see images though.

So if images are off (which they are for me) tweets won't embed?

this still doesn't work for me, i have the images/embedded media box unticked and images and youtubes don't embed but tweets still do

the t.co links that appear if you have images off aren't taking me to the original tweet anymore. started yesterday around the time of the biden announcement. the link address appears in my browser bar but then they all seem to redirect to Twitter homepage. is it just me?

(on phone, Android Firefox)

(laptop is fine, open in private tab on phone is fine, but annoying because of the 4 dialogues i have to cancel each time)

huh. well, I guess I'll disable images for the first time ever, can't risk seeing JD Vance's face when I'm not prepared

if you're using ublock and block twitter.com on ilxor.com it will show the blue text-only boxes and still allow images and other embeds like yt

I'd actually forgotten that I have Ghostery running...maybe something isn't working there
