I’ve been fiddling around for a few days making a more modern responsive stylesheet to fit my needs of something that looks nice and clean on a wider screen with a lot of white space, and which compresses down to something that looks good on a mobile device.
Is there anyone around these days who can add stylesheets to the site?
As a side note the html markup on this site is absolutely terrible for styling, so that’s a warning to anyone who looks into styling in future :D

I’ve noticed that on the search page there is a`Show Search Hints` link which does not work. This needs to use a global 'setStyleByClass' function which is not available.

I have another bug (feature?), on the main index page sets a document type of <html> rather than <!DOCTYPE html> - certainly in the case of Firefox this in then detected to need to use an extra quirks.css the browser injects, overriding some styles.

Not sure if stet has seen this so I'll pass it on. Personally I have no idea about any of this!

Thanks Emily! I am provisionally calling this new stylesheet `teal & orange.xls`. I had the week off work, and what more fun than to do something I’ve been kind-of-meaning to do for over a decade.
Stet, I am building the styles using css-variables for a lot of things, including colours, so with a small tiny addition to user preferences it would be possible for users to set their own themed colours.

OK, those were links to webpages.

oh sweet, fire them my way please - email to stet @ ilxor
Agreed on the variable: standard-dark and standard-light now use those, and have been planning to make the colours configurable at the same time as making the board-highlight colours configurable.
On the HTML - it definitely could be dramatically simplified to make styling easier. To that end I have mostly componentised the server-side generation now, which will make it theoretically easy to update — but I'm daunted by the need to update all the damn stylesheets themselves and so never get around to it.
I'll fix those other two bugs though.

Nice work stet. I'll take a look at those other stylesheets and adopt the same naming convention before firing over.
I'd like to say I could help you with those stylesheets... But as you say that is probably a lot of work!!

I’ve sent over the css, I understand it may take a while to get onto the site, but just wanted to check it had arrived.

Woo! I’ve been using it here via some hacky plugin for the last few days… I’m noticing small bugs here and there I’d like to fix at some point, but generally I’m pretty happy with it.
If you are happy with putting it up in this state with a 'beta' message for now that would be really awesome so I can test it on other browsers/devices etc. :D
