Movie choices for tonight on the treadmill: James and the Giant Peach, Alien, or random episodes of Moonlighting from the third season.

Friend is arriving on the train at Portland, Ore.'s lovely Union Station in 40 minutes for One Night Only. I have a new, completely devoid of furniture apartment, a bus pass, and like $30 left on my credit card. What to do?!?!

*should probably not involve booze as friend is like 6 months prego

$30 pretty much rules out bar probably, but leaves you plenty of 2 person options for boozing, as long as you dont have to eat or do anything else that costs money in the near future. i am going to assume that you have at least somewhere soft to sit down in your house, and (this is not a gotta have it thing, so if not, carry on) maybe a means of playing music audibly.

proceed to liquor store. buy largest possible bottle of medium grade tequila. now to corner store. buy as much 7up as you can afford. go home. obtain shot glasses (if you dont have these i cant help you). tonight is back and forth dueling dj tequila popper night. GO.

(note if tequila popper technique is not familiar, check back in and i will make it happen for you.)

tehresa, your situation is tough to unravel. on one side, i am naturally predisposed to never offer support for the tired in scare quotes, but entertaining the pregnant is always a tough order.

can you go to a weirdo play or some crap like that? its the only thing that i can think of that doesnt involve booze or crowds elbowing some poor unborn babee in the melon.

if not, you get a free pass to play the tired card, as long as it is an excuse and not an actual go home and post on the internet thing. unless you get really drunk, in which case, go team.

I shouldn't be roffling at "entertaining the pregnant," but I AM. In my experience, the pregnant are always so tired themselves that they just want a nap, so it sounds easy to me! (btw, I hate women who claim that they feel "energetic" and "great" when pregnant. Liars.)

I was forced to ignore all film choices for the night because of time issues (I have to get up early tomorrow to go to see a client AGAIN - hope she is there this time!), but will put Moonlighting on the plan for tomorrow night. Although yeah, Maddy Hayes is awesome, but I have to say that David Addison is more my type. (so weird to see Bruce Willis so thin and with hair...)

John Justen: continue to make yourself cocktails and listen to "Holy Diver" by Dio.

John: you should know that, independently of your suggestion, we bought a handle of gin and some tonic and now sit drunkin' and listening to music.

i am at that point of the night where i start denying myself the good liquor because i will not really appreciate it as much as i do when i am fresh and early in the evening, so no more Herradura for this guy.

Also, "Mother" by Danzig is on VH1 Classic and it is fulfilling my needs for the evening at the moment.

ok Matt P, what i would do is drive into the city and kill time at the gay bar until my friend was avail. if he isnt avail, then you have a buzz on and can return home (picking up alcohol on the way) and kick it with downloaded music.

I have gotten so cold in my house that I have actually used my Snuggie in a non-ironic way, but there is no way I would go out in it. For one thing, I would fall right over, since it is way too long for a short person like myself.

On the other hand, is my plan of walking on the treadmill and watching a movie really that much better than wearing a blanket in a bar? Not sure.
