OH also Changsho in Cambridge on Mass Ave between Harvard and Porter is pretty great too. My personal fave at the moment is the divey place around the corner from us, New Dragon Star on Broadway in Somerville; they have no tables to speak of but it's a GREAT take-out place.

am going to try these boston DUMPLINGS! places.
what are some of the best chinese places (that may or may not have DUMPLINGS!)?

In all honesty I only ever do dim sum at Chinese restaurants these days; I can't remember the name of the place we've been going to recently but it's in the same building as that crazy garage near South Station (which, if you've seen it, you will know exactly which one I mean). Chau Chau city used to a regular spot before we started going to this new place.
Joyce Chen in Central Square is also good. the Hong Kong in Harvard Square is actually terrible but somehow also really, really fun (likely because it's open until 3:00 AM on weekends).

hahah yes I meant Mary Chung, oops
and yes shame on me for swapping the two (the Joyce Chen restaurant used to be in Fresh Pond and was AWESOME)

well in any case mary chung is awesome and used to have the most hilarious website ever--like 5 lines of plain html with one bold tag for the restaurant name, the address, phone number, hours, and CLOSED TUESDAY.
