be glad you have not read it. so many people post about things that are actually egregious that make them rationally angry. they don't under stand the words that the thread's about.

one month passes...

craftsmanship, consumerism, virtue, privilege, and quality

pretty much any thread about people buying things and what that means maaaan actually.

Princess Nancy (jjjusten), Wednesday, 16 November 2011 23:05 (thirteen years ago) link

mainly because every time one happens i wander in and say "hey as a dude who actually buys and sells products for a living a bunch of yall are kinda wrong" and then suddenly the thread is all about local beef purchasing and how the world would be better if no one ever bought anything again ever and lived in a centralized bubble city and ate loam

Princess Nancy (jjjusten), Wednesday, 16 November 2011 23:08 (thirteen years ago) link

yikes. I feel like I have Too Much Stuff, but every time I purchase something I feel good like, Yay I am SUPPORTING the ECONOMY NOW! So that's my excuse for spending what I make at my job. :)

Also the Too Much Stuff thing can be sort of worked around with stuff like buying experiences (going to shows, gift certificate for a massage, going to dinner). Or, hey, buy an instrument and then take music lessons (like, say, a guitar!).

So yeah, I won't open that thread is what I'm saying.

*rare moment where John and I, I suspect, entirely in agreement*

jjj i am all with you and also a guy who contributed a lot at the beginning of the thread but man oh man are you right

sarahel, Thursday, 17 November 2011 01:09 (thirteen years ago) link

YES

Princess Nancy (jjjusten), Thursday, 17 November 2011 02:00 (thirteen years ago) link

ok not really

Princess Nancy (jjjusten), Thursday, 17 November 2011 02:00 (thirteen years ago) link

people in the flyover states get mad when you tell them how to cook their loam iirc

sarahel, Thursday, 17 November 2011 03:21 (thirteen years ago) link
