i'd be fine with the first round reverting to 5 games but the rest of it has to be 7

Rooting for the Mavs with Luka and Kyrie is a bit like rooting for the 'Bad Boy' Pistons. Someone's gotta do it, but it won't be me.

that would have been a very bizarre and disappointing loss for either side

lively outplaying chet and jones jr outplaying any OKC role player epitomized that series. he’s in the perfect role and is playing w/ two of the best ball handlers in the league but damn lively is a baller

yeah he’s in the perfect situation. gafford too. they made good use of the deadline

it does feel like they will be a dog vs whoever comes out of the min/denver series but a western conference final berth is a huge accomplishment after missing the playoffs last year. and luka is that guy

okc shouldve won that series but they didnt instead they got beat

shai was really good

not exactly an original opinion but okcs galaxy brained scheme to not care about size or rebounding is maybe not the best

also trading for hayward while dallas got washington from the same team turned out pretty rough

okc has positional size everywhere except where it mattered most

they got outrebounded 5 of 6 games including 47-31 tonight

they’re playing the long game (haha but not literally) I think it’s fine

chet is 2 years older than lively too so it’s not even like they can just chalk it up to their youth

one thing that also tripped them up is that in the regular season they got a lot of supplemental offense from giddey, he was essentially their back up PG and could run the team when shai was sitting or make things happen when they played together. in this series he put up 6-3-1 on 41/18 shooting and didn’t play more than 13 mins after game 1. accordingly there was too much of a burden on shai, j dub had some moments but in the end wasn’t really anywhere close the paul george-ian second creator you can project him to be.

nothing about giddey’s game at the moment makes you think he will become playable in the offs, so imo they need to find another guard who they can mix in w/ dort, wallace, joe who can actually create off the dribble. those guys were all great regular season role players and dort and wallace will obv be key cogs but their collective inability to take any playmaking burden off shai & j dub was a noticeable anchor in this series

using a challenge down by a field goal, when you have one timeout and 2.5 seconds left, seems like a huge mistake to me

When was the last time OKC had a veteran who was a real player? Chris Paul? It seems like it's either youngsters or Presti's salary fodder. They could use a Mike Conley type.

the challenge is defensible to me because if they won it it would’ve been a jump ball and the game would’ve been over. so it was a high upside gamble, and your chances of scoring with 2.5 seconds even w/ a timeout are still pretty slim

Sad for okc. Dallas was unwatchable to me last year but adding all this athleticism and high flying bigs has made them much more aesthetically appealing. Hate them tho and need them to be beat.

personally im kind of conflicted from a celtics pov theyd def like minny and indy to win, seems like with a healthy jamal murray denver is winning that series pretty easily i guess you could hope for an unhealthy jamal murray in a potential finals but idk id rather just play the worse team which is IMHO the wolves, no offense to the wolves theyve played great stepped up and so forth and could def beat the celtics i just think denvers better, if not for the celtics pov id be rooting for denver theyre just a fun nice team who have one of the best weirdo basketball savants off alltime

on the other side from a celtics pov youd like to play indy just cause theyre less physical than the knicks tho i guess you could make the argument that theyre more likely to perform some high variance shooting feats which is prob the only way either team is beating the celtics or even extending the series, i like both teams a lot but from a disinterested pov having a celtics knicks series would be good, old school east coast basketball, and it would be funny if the celtics could continue their 30 year campaign of terror vs new york, tho itd be pretty easy for knicks fans to just write it off cause of all the injuries which is fair, healthy knicks v celtics could be a pretty cool series tbf

wonder if minnys style should be favored in a game seven seems like playing defense is more robust in the bright lights than precision offense, but on the other hand denver has the big joker, and its always a question if minny will be able to score enough to stay in the game will their role players hit any shots, kinda boring to say but it could come down to how jamal murrays leg and elbow are feeling, maybe hell find a way to get buckets even if injured he is a gamer, an epic if not very game seveny thing would be if we got a joker ant battle where they both go for 40+ and it comes down to the wire

on the other side this feels like a half dead knicks squad guts out a win at the garden and thibs gives his post game press conference from atop their dying bodies saying its good for conditioning to never rest your starters all year actually, or i guess indy could just run around and hit a bunch of threes too
